Hi rummer..don't panic..you need to keep calm and do what women do best..plan and budget like a fiend..mu hubby is the same..he was fired up and ready for a new job..now its a different story..he has been for so many interviews and done so many cv its unbelieveable..not all got back to him either...go to the jobcentre and see if there is more help available to you both...we are here for you..the ladies have been lovely to me and give the best advice for free...we changed our lives totally and in some ways it did us good..made us appreciate things we took for granted a bit more...
Baby led weaning..i weaned all my babies at about 3-4months,starting small and then bigger and more variety of food...my hv almost died of shock when she said don't wean til 6 months..we were at the clinic and fern was 4 months old..i said too late she is weaning already...go with your gut instinct she is your baby...
Went to the jumble sale again this morning think i'm addicted to that place...got a fuzzy felt set for 50p,beautiful candle stick and bowl set covered in holly and berries for £1..3 books for a £1 too..have decided i'm not going next wk...will have to go cold turkey...
Its lovely weather here today the sun is shining,no wind or rain...i'm sitting in the sun in my dining room doing this...shame its going to rain tomorrow..nevermind...
    take care all

Really sorry to hear you're feeling so low, Rummer. I don't really have practical advice further to what's already been said above, but I would say try to keep positive. I know it's easy for me to say, but I know from experience that once your head goes down, it's often hard to keep focussed and optimistic.

I've been out all morning, only just got back. Went to the gym, and then because I had my mum's car (we don't have one of our own), I took the opportunity to go to asda to get a big shop of heavy stuff such as tins, cat litter etc. I also went to B&Q and bought a little oil-filled radiator to keep me warm when I'm working in the office.

Wasn't impressed with quite a few of the prices in asda - because I don't go every week (and keep a notebook!) I really notice when the prices creep up. Some price rises I noticed were:

    - Distilled white vinegar 1l - 36p in June, 54p today
    - 30 x SP dishwasher tablets - £1.15ish in March, £1.77 today
    - OXO cubes x18 - £1.26 in March, £1.32 today
    - SP tortilla chips - 26p a bag in March, double-sized bag 91p today

However, I did get some good deals which some of you might be interested in:

    - 10 x Doritos - £1
    - 4 pack tinned tomatoes (Del Mario brand) - £1 (I bought 3 packs!)
    - Diced turkey breast - £1 for 340g
    - Persil detergent "mega-pack" - £7 for 85 washes (=170 washes!)

Also, they've never had so much reduced/damaged stock! I got a 12-pack of Shades loo rolls for £2 because the packaging was very slightly damaged (cream instead of white, but hey ho!), a Right Guard deodorant for DH for 25p, and 2kg sugar for 70p. :T

Spent £78.53 altogether on groceries, but hopefully that should mean only needing to buy fruit/veg/eggs from the market for the rest of the month. And some things, like the washing detergent etc, will last much longer.

Also invested in some "home" bits and bobs (spent £28, DH will have a fit!) Bought 4 of their fleece throws (2 for £3) to line the bedroom and lounge curtains with, some big storage containers for keeping flour in, some kilner jars for xmas pressies (cookie mix or similar), a big box with a lid for the recycling, and a tupperware container to put cereal in (specifically the SP cornflakes that I'm hoping to fool DH with....!:rotfl:)

Right ho, that's enough from me, need to get on with some work. Got to pick DH up from work at 4.30-5, then we're off to a wedding reception that I'm really not keen on going to!

  • hiya everybody - just reading the stories about kids saying what vegetables are when they hold them up, the boys will only eat raw carrot sticks so I blend corgette into sauces add cauli to mash etc so Im going to ask them when DS2 wakes from nap what veg is what and I think Im going to be horrifired!

DS1 and I made a meal a few days ago, I cook meals from scratch and they were weaned from 16 weeks - which special care okay, I made all their foods and pureed them yet they are the fussiest kids I know. We came up with 5 meals they want in a months plan - roast chicken, spag bol, shep pie, chicken nuggets with pasta( their weekly treat!) and chicken and pasta. I made sweet and sour pork last night DS1 ate it all and DS2 ate only the rice refusing to try. A triumph for DS1 at least. Need to get them to try more as at a party in the summer Ds1 ate nothing as it was pizza, sausages, chips and sausage rolls. He did eat the cucumber, tomato and grapes!

Been to mums today shes 67, her first birthday without dad and she was in better spirits that I had hoped for. got her some slippers from TJ Hughes - suede with fur lining and leather soles - she was made up! She has gone to town with sis this afternoon as I said they had lots of stlyes.

    Rummer - take care xx

Gailey is this your booking in scan?

Yes lindy loo its 1st booking in scan to give accurate due date as not told family and freinds yet.

Rummer, my hubbys not unemplyed but e has searched for best part of year now and its got him down as people dont respond to applications, hes gone to interveiws and not heard back if he got job or reasons why he dident.
Its quite disheartening at moment hes being messed about by one company hes meant to be going to 2nd stage interveiw but they got no one in company with any time to interveiw him and hes put off search. As for recuitment agencies they say they ring and dont.

Dont know what your expenditure is so hard to suggest ways to cut back but fact you have each other, you both lead mse way of life and you have no debt is positive.

Im trying not to get too exited someone from netnums suppost to be vewing the double this afternoon but been let down b4.

really need to sell some stuff and pay some more bills.

My OH tends to get depressed easily, not as in clinical depressION, but just very down. I keep saying life's too short, you can be depressed when you're deid ! But I have to make all this moneysaving stuff into a fight, and that keeps me going. It's my personal fight against the Powers That Be. I am damn sure that they aren't going to beat me down. The sods. LOL! You have to keep fighting in life pet, dont lose heart - just KICK A$$:)

DD1 ate anything and everything - thought it was because I was so relaxed about it. Hah! It was a rude shock when DS and DD2 (twins) came along. They were difficult to feed from day1. Breastfeeding was hard (hadn't considered anything else) as they were 6wks early and no/poor suck reflexes and as everyone thought I was mad breastfeeding twins (including MWs and HV) I didn't get much help either - DD1 also had 6wk early baby but MWs were brilliant and he was tube/cup fed for a few days until he got the hang of sucking. Wish mine had been. Weaning not much better - dreaded mealtimes in the end - DS decided suddenly at about 18mths that he would eat and has never looked back. Fifteen years later, DD2 is still fussy, altho getting better at trying new things. She likes most vegetables (except mushrooms) - they're not the problem - but won't eat meat, fish, eggs or even cheese - all of these used to make her gag horribly when she was a baby and maybe I didn't persist enough. She will eat nuts and pulses though so we have a lot of lentils and chickpeas/hummus in this house! In fact these days she just tells people she's vegetarian. DD1 did babyled weaning with her baby though and it was brilliant.
