What is baby led weaning?
It suppost to be a newer way of weaning although suspect 2nd/3rd time parents probably done it for years but does work well with the new reccomended guidlines that seem to change every few years.
Its confusing as jars say 4months plus
but nhs say no weaning b4 17weeks
wait until 26weeks which is nabout 6month mark
I think weight of baby and huger levels need to play a part.
I started at 25weeks with 2nd did banan test on nhs online as long as baby can sit up staugtish in highchiar old the it and nibble it then thats a sign that there ready.
hands in mout could be sign of teething rather than hunger.
from 5montsh we say baby at table with us at meal times
thena t 25weeks just couple of things on her tray cooked cauli, broccoli, mash. cheese on toast ect.
Its about baby taking the lead eating what they want and regulating amounts they eat.
warning it can be messy had few chucking things on floor initailly seem like floor got more but over 2-3months she was eating wat her 4year old sister was eating with no problems was gradial thing.
She liked to hold spoon and find yogurt and cereal self fed is messy.
But she enjoys her food, eats pretty much everything and eats more than sister so cant complain.
people are amazed when we take them outr to eat or on hols.
during summer at bbq she was constantly trying to pinch stiff of peoples plates like bread rolls and mini sweetcorn on cob.
Well this afternoon cleaned, hoovered.
scrubbed and polished buggy plus pumped up tyres just hope lady turns up.
Hubby should be home by now.
just about to start tea for girls bedtime.

A quick trip out of lurkdom to wail about how unfair life is. Just been told by my friend (he's 43) that an ultrasound has revealed secondary tumours on his liver. The source of the primary is currently unknown but may be stomach, bowel or pancreas. His wife who is one of my closest friends survived breast cancer at 33. How bloody awful is thatPiglet

Rummer already works so I'm guessing she has little capacity to take on extra jobs
Rummer, I sympathise. My Dh was made redundant twice last year and signed on for 3 months. Ended up going self employed this year - so we now have periods of no work/ uncertainty if/when the next contract will come along.
baby led weaning - you let the baby take the lead as to eating. Straight onto 'proper' food - no purees/ mash. it's brilliant, imoI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -

Sammy-kaye...weird but nice in a weird kinda way too...i got told 6 yrs ago by a lady selling heather that i was one of mother nature natural mums and that i would have 7 children..o i did chuckle at that one..i had 4 then and no plans for anymore at all...then 6 wks later i found out i was pregnant..total shocker...then her words came back to haunt me..when i had my dd i took steps to make sure no more babies came my way..pill,condoms etc..and then guess what i found i was expecting iris in january 2008..i was so shocked it didn't sink in til i had my scan...so now every period i have is a relief in a way coz it seems no matter what i do to prevent it i somehow end up pregnant..either that or hubby has super sperm...haha....
take careBe who you are, not what the world expects you to be..:smileyhea

Holly is doing this as I type at only 11.5 weeks old.
I started weaning Ben at 4 months with yoghurt and the powder /mix your own meals - broccoli and cauliflower cheese smells god awful though - be warned! but think I might need to look into doing a little bit earlier with her as she was weighed on the 15th September?? (she had jabs the same day but cant remember if that's the definite date!) and she was 13lbs 12.5ozs! She is already on the blue milk (slightly thicker for hungrier babies) and is still waking me up every 2 hours to be fed!
Well I think boyfriend has gotten lost picking up his other son - he left at half one and still isnt home? either hes in a ditch somewhere or hes gone for a workout and not told me! Just text to ask if hes working out - gaurenteed he'll prance in the door now talking about how buff he is. :rolleyes:Time to find me again0 -
Rummer - so sorry. My OH has been through this redundancy nightmare twice and I know how hard it is to keep your spirits up when you're worried to death and everybody cheerfully tells you that "something will come along soon." Do you live near a university or college area? I wonder whether you would be able to give lodgings to a student to bring in a little income? I know it might not be what you want to do but if it's a possibility and keeps the wolf from the door until your OH is able to find work, it might be less stressful for you worrying about the bills all the time.
Is there any work you could do, like a part-time cleaning job or office admin job which would bring in a little money?
I agree with the idea in principle of a part-time cleaning job - but its obviously for Rummer's O.H. to do this - not Rummer herself.
Rummer herself already has a job (presumably full-time?) - and O.H. doesnt have a job at all = therefore he is the one who does all the housework and also takes on a part-time job (until such time as he can find a full-time one).
I admit to being extremely puzzled as to why Person A would even think of taking on a part-time job on top of a full-time job if Person B doesnt have a job at all. Fair shares indicate that its obviously Person B who takes on the part-time job. I would not be taking any account whatsoever of "traditional" types of job here for the two sexes - just "fair shares" for two people - regardless of the sex they happened to be. HE is the one who has the problem to start with and it falls to his O.H. (who happens to be a woman - ie Rummer) to be emotionally supportive but not to do extra paid work to support him - that is HIS task and blow him trying to stick to any ideas of cleaning as "womens work".
Hence I'm extremely puzzled personally....
...but then one of the criteria I assessed "potential husbands" on back in the days when I was still looking for one was whether they "pulled their weight" and accepted that he and I would both shoulder an exact 50% of the combined paid work/housework burden and have the same amount of time and energy left over for doing what we want once the "work" had been done.
I admit that personally I would "kick any mans !!!" good and hard if he thought I was going to "carry him" by doing more than my fair share of the "work" (be it paid or unpaid).:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

Its quite young I would hold off until 4months-16weeks and up the oz of milk in bottle maybe and stick to simple mashed fruit like banans, baby cereal or fromage frais.
The guidlones changed betwween my 2 but when I think what abattle I had with eldest getting to wean and still wanting smooth purees at 12months.2nd one has been a breeze.
It was really hard to wait later as did see some mums eaning earlier but it paid off as its been so easy not touched the hand blender once just mashed or roasted and cooked whole veg.
girls had jacket potaos with ham and cheese for dinner with frozen broccoli florets and grated cheese.
I guess letting her suck on rusk maybe. does she have any teeth yet?
They go through growth spurts at different times so the waking could be that or try some drugs for teeth as both my 2teeth came through really early.
Try those teethers that go in fridge too!
Hubby was home late and dident phone:o
This netmummer still not turned up giving up hope as seems very late afternoon.
