    Hope it's delish, gailey.

    If anyone has any hints on best way to cook pork belly strips, I'd be very grateful. ?

    I've found another way cooking them if you like you meat well done and the fat crispy is to cut them into one inch chunks and fry them in a hot frying pan. I know frying meat is not supposed to be the healthiest option but you can always drain the fat off afterwards . We tend to use this way when we want to include some cheap meat in dishes like paella - we add the pork chunks in at the end to keep them nice and crispy.

    ...and the second time was when he held up a picture of a sheep and asked DS and DD2's class who were quite young at the time, "Who knows what this is?" Only to be told by one small boy, "It's a texel cross"!

    Thanks for brightening up my morning! :rotfl:

    When I was at secondary school our headmaster gave exactly the same assembly two weeks running. I wonder to this day whether he did it on purpose or not! (He was the kind of guy who might have just had a filing cabinet full that he'd been doing for the last twenty years.)

    :D like my kids when they came down here at first. My son said "yes ok there's tups & hogs & gimmers but where's the SHEEP ?":rotfl:
    And the other son, the one who became a falconer, once mortified us at a duck pond in front of other parents... he was about 2ft high and maybe two & a half years old, and gave me a row when I told him to come and see the wee ducks. He said snootily "that's not a duck, mother, that's a coot "

    OK, while we're on stories of small children embarrassing us, I was a mature student when DD1 (now30) was little, living in a university city then. I had to hand in an essay and was late and parked her with her favourite nativity story book on college doorstep while I frantically scribbled the last few sentences. Party of tourists plus guide paused in front of chapel just as DD "read" aloud to herself in piercing tones, "And Mary said to baby jesus, I don't want to hear another word!" I was mortified.

    Your post about JO reminded me of two assemblies at school - both times when the local minister had gone in. First was DD1 who was asked what her favourite food was and said cauliflower (I know!) which rather scuppered the poor man's talk about needing fruit and veg as well as chips etc (metaphor for something or other) and the second time was when he held up a picture of a sheep and asked DS and DD2's class who were quite young at the time, "Who knows what this is?" Only to be told by one small boy, "It's a texel cross"!

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Brilliant!!!

    SammyK - I weaned my twins at 12 weeks on advice of GP - she said she didn't have to adhere to what the HVs said about 6month weaning and since it started, she has had so many upset mums coming in to the surgery because their babies won't eat :( She said they had missed the boat where weaning was concerned and it was having a real negative effect on babies and Mums :eek:
