  • good for you flowertotmum. fluff them all, they can sit around eating cardboard cake while you get on with much happier activities!!!
  • Oh dear, what is the world coming to when only shop bought cakes are permitted? Mad!

Esther, I use bicarb in "anzac" biscuits (quite similar to Twinks hobnobs but with dessicated coconut in as well) and sometimes, with cream of tartar, in scones as well. Does taste horrible if you use too much though but then so does baking powder.

Gailey, don't be down about your little one's b'day. From my memory, at one, they're often more interested in the wrapping paper than what's inside it. And too many presents all at once are a bit overwhelming. My SIL started us off on what's now a family tradition. When the children were little we let them open one thing a day starting just before b'day/ C'mas and sometimes if had been given lots, keeping some back for the few days after as well - spreads out the excitement! At 14, they still like to do it!

    :o I answered :o

Since noone seems to have answered the question "How to subscribe to a thread?", I thought I'd answer :D.

Go to the top of the posts part of the page and on the green bar you will see "thread tools", beside "search this thread". Click on thread tools which gives you a drop down menu and at the bottom is "subcribe to this thread" et voila! You can keep an eye on what threads you are subscribed to in the user CP, also at the top of the page, on the green bar above the thraed one.
  • Flowers- good for you. When DS was at his worse he would not just vomit after every feed but generally anywhere and everywhere. The looks I got was amazing some of total disbelief that i wasnt alarmed that my son had just vomited all down me and some of sheer pitty (mainly when I had to tube feed him)
My life was basically cleaning up vomit or pooh from his allergies. It got to the stage where I wouldnt go out cause I knew people would look at me. If I had to go out id be taking a massive change bag with me. DS is almost 3 now and I still havent met anyone with a child with similar problems.
One day I just thought stuff it. Hes going to throw up. I cannot stop it so I went with a mate to a lcoal mums and tots.
Not only did he vomit he had 3 of his blue eposodes as well. Scared quite a few of the people. This happening to me made me decide that I wanted to try and help people in my situation and thats what im training at college/uni to do
At the end of the day sick clears up and I can shower. People should accept people for who and what they are. Were all different. Children accept each other for who they are its us adults that cause the problems. So I say eat your yummy cake. Dont give those rude people a second thought. I hope you have a wonderful time with your new friends.

Gailey - When carrying DS I lived on Jelly. It really was all I could keep down. Id vomit 3 times before getting out of bed (lots of vomit in my house lol) Dont worry about the presents. SpenDing lots of time with Mummy is what counts and as for the money. I know I sound like im on my soap box but its only money and made of paper. If you havent got it they cannot have it (I know its easy for me to say) Take what you need for yourself and your family first and if theres and left then great if £1 a month is all you can afford so be it. I admit to never being in the situation but we did drop from 2 good incomes to just one with DS.

Wishing you all a lovely Thurday
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!

  • I wish everyone would stand up for themselves more - Health and Safety "rules" are often just made up by someone in an office (not proper Health & Safety) and we should question these. How can good homemade food be "bad" when lots of bought stuff is made of rubbish ingredients and chemicals. Most schools know if a child has a true allergy and are prepared as is the child. What are we turning our children in to I ask!!

Sorry for the rant but as I am old it worries me that our children are not having childhoods that will equip them for real life ( ie no competition etc). Ignore me and I will slink away quietly.
  • I'll tell you ...my little girl is poorly so i couldn't go to mother and toddler this morning but it was my turn to buy the cake for coffee afterwards..i made a carrot cake and my son dropped it off on his way to college...it was returned an hour later with a note on it saying "SORRY WE DON'T DO HOMEMADE".. i mean what does that mean..is it not good enough coz its gone my family ate it and said it was lovely...its probably their snotty way off letting me know they don't want me to go anymore..fluffing b****es...i am so glad my other daughter doesn't go to school with their children...i sound awful don't i?..but i would never turn my back on anyone having a hard time especially a friend but this is what they have done to me and i am so hurt...i want to cry..but i won't..not much..we are struggling to get by and i hoped my friends would understand but obviously they don't...so they can fluffing well fluff off...
Sorry i never swear but they have made me so angry...it might sound petty but i have never felt this way before..i'm caught between anger and hurt..my husband is fuming and my son wanted to go say something..but i won't let him...well its their loss..fluff them all...i'll stick to you lot ...you have all made me feel welcome and not judgemental at all...
thank you for letting me get it out..

I am gobsmacked that those people, who are supposed to be your friends, could be so...:mad::mad: well, I can't even find the words!! Do you know what? They don't deserve you!

In my group of mummy friends, homemade produce is prized way above anything Mr T et al could produce. My friend Lucy makes brownies and other goodies to die for! We often go on picnics and share out our goodies (sometimes we cheat and go to Mr T etc, we don't always have time to make stuff but we do try). You and your little girl can come and play ANY TIME! (As long as you bring your delicious sounding carrot cake:rotfl:)

In our group, HM is highly prized too! Not many of the mums have time as its a twins and multiples group, but when someone does bring in HM goodies, they fly off the plate faster than Mr Ts biscuits!

Another group I belonged to wouldn't have dared to offer HM stuff because of H&S PAH.... For lots of reasons, inc similar to you, I soon left and stuck with the other group, which had really friendly people :)

This is true, a lot of companies blame health and safety because they can't be bothered to do certain things or to avoid complaints but really the health and safety executive isn't as strict as the media makes out.

I got paid today :j OK so it's all pre-alocated to various bills, repayments and boring things BUT at least I was paid :rotfl:
