  • Thats me -
I used to manage 30 people and manage a shop but being a SAHM is the hardest job but also most rewarding that ive ever done. JObs come with rules and instructions to a degree but Motherhood doesnt. All the books that experts write I read while pregnant with DD and by 3 weeks all I had read had gone out the window. I admit ive been blessed with 2 children who love sleep and both have slept through since day one or day 8 which made a lot of difference.
Mad Mum to 3 wonderful children, 2 foster kittens and 2 big fat cats that never made it to a new home!
Aiming to loose 56 pounds this year. Total to date 44.5 pounds 12.5 to go. Slimming World Rocks!

    Afternoon all......

Been doing my budget all morning, blimey life on the dole isnt really fun is it...and the Govt keeps saying some folk choose it as a lifestyle:(:( though as my elderly old mom says its better than the workhouse and means test.....thought whats she on about so had an hour and a halves lecture on how my generation dont know were born,,some of her friends joined in I think I just escaped with my skin intact with the proverbial tail between my legs...one said we had all better watch out as this Govt is going to take us right back to basics and how ill equipped most folk under the age of 65 were to deal with such economic hardships....told them about this board and two said ooh I read that:D

I volunteer at a local furniture rehoming scheme and was listening to
some of the folk wandering around looking at the furniture on offer most were moaning Id not give that houseroom, well what the heck were they doing there in the first place, had to say to one real snooty piece well DFS is down the road...:p..got told off by the supervisor she said donations were drying up as folk batten down the hatches and start to take heed of the state of there finances.

Well after paying all my out goings, water rates, electric,tv licence, and bt phone line and contents insurance and rent and council tax Im left with the grand total of 36 pounds (sorry pound signs disapeared of keyboard).

I have adequate clothing to see me through this winter and next summer, plus footwear as well, its the haircuts I shall miss, and one of the old dears at my mums mentiond LETS scheme, just googled it, its a Local Exchange Trading Scheme where you exchange/barter your talents, baking gardening etc in exchange for other help..just need to find a blokie or lady that likes painting and I can exchange my cakes or sewing skills.. sounds a good idea in principle just need to see if theres a scheme in my corner of Staffordshire if not there soon will be...

Allotments looking brill have got the winter cabbage and onions in and the hoss muck on some of the well dug beds, and am going to collect 3 carrier bags of Gardeners World magazines and some Grow Your Own mags and gardening books and a potting table from a local Freecycler. Found I had lifted exOHs suitcase full of his winter woollies so put them on Freecycle, have all gone to nice folk who I hope are kept nice and warm in them...have kept some to keep me warm in this potentially really cold winter to come..

Things are looking ok..got all I need to keep me comfy warm and safe, lifes ok...now need to get to grips with meal planning.

    Bye till laters

Annie - freecycling ex's jumpers hahahahaha!!!

Mr T do 3 meat packs for £10 and that feeds me and two LOs for ages... I got a huge chicken, lamb steaks and gammon.. The lamb steaks will only do 2 or 3 meals as a hotpot but the chicken has lasted us nearly all week! and the Gammon is still waiting to be cooked and will stretch to about 4 meals, 6 if you include the stock as lentil soup :D

I am a member of LETS too, its brilliant. We have a hairdresser, masseuse, painter, gardener, handyman, electrician, carpet fitter etc on there... we also have people that will house sit for you if you need someone to be at home say for, the gas man/delivery, allsorts. Its soooooo good :)
  • Lindy I really dont know. I always thought it was my reward for having 2 bad pregnancies. DD came home from hospital and slept through. DS from day 8 and even now they love a lay in.

I really, really want to have a go at making home-made crumpets - but it would mean buying some metal rings to use to cook them in.

I used to love Warburtons ones, they were the only ones nice enough to have with just salt & butter. However, they have added something to them over the last year or so that disagrees with me, it makes me bloat up and get painful stomach cramps. I am fine with wheat & fine with yeast, so it must be something they use in the baking process. Want to try making my own with no nasties in it!

I also want to try making my own poppadoms & see if those can be cooked in the microwave as well as shop-bought ones (microwaved poppadoms were a wonderful discovery, no need for oil for cooking them - but the raw ones cost almost as much as the pre-cooked ones in our local Tesco & I've never really rated Pattaks which is all they do). Must find an Indian food supplies shop that sells Gram flour, etc!

So many recipes, so little time, especially as little one kept me up until 2:30am in the end last night!
