  • RE : Pill/ Coil/ Implant/ Injection === well I know these are my options and I am on a strong pill at the minute (Microgynon) and I know I cant have the injection as I have lots of side effects from it - gained 3 st in a year and I probably ate healthier and exercised more in that year than I ever have! I am a bit weary of the coil as my mum had one fitted incorrectly and was in a lot of pain afterwards and bled for quite a while (she add shes sterilised but her monthlys are very painful) but will definitely look into it.

Also with regards to my health check -- I usually see the other doctor in the centre but for some reason it was the one I don't like who does the checks etc and hes not a hand on doctor - its very much one doctor is good if its yourself, one doctor is really good for kids so will definitely be going back to see my regular doctor.

I get what you mean about the water. Our tap water tastes horrible, but when we lived in Germany it was all we drank. Weirdly though I can drink water at my mums no problem but cant drink my own unless its turned into squash.

WE buy the sparkling flavoured Mr T water too though as something different - Im very much a tea drinker and boyfriend likes the flavoured stuff too. Trying to get ben on the stuff as he doesn't drink much water at all unless its flavoured.

have been informed by boyfriend as well that I am to no longer buy any rubbish for in the cupboards - ie biscuits, cakes (these are normally home made), pop, crisps, jaffa cakes etc as he is serious about getting himself in shape and if there's !!!! in the cupboards then he'll eat it. So am not to buy it. I will be buying a few little bits for Bens lunchboxes but if I'm not wasting money on pointless junk then he can have a few healthy treats and we will keep them in his lunch box cupboard now. Boyfriend has also asked me not to bake as well so that will be a weekend thing to do with Ben and we will tin them asap and hide them away then. Either way should save my food budget a few pennies :T
    Time to find me again

I'd would get your Mum to change to the Mirena, it will (or should) stop any bleeding. I've had mine now since 2007, I'm an endo sufferer. Yes, it was painful at 1st for a month, your body is trying to expel it you see. The good thing, no periods, no sanitary ware to buy, saves me a fortune:)

...and there's always my own personal solution I took (after years on the combined Pill) - one quick visit to a Marie Stopes Clinic/write them a cheque/get sterilised/come out the same day and no arguments whatsoever about whether they will or won't - hand them the cheque and they just do it.:D. I really didnt want to even try arguing with the NHS - i asked them/they refused/I couldnt afford a Nuffield Hospital - so Marie Stopes Clinics were a godsend to me personally. End of story...didnt have to think about it again ever:D. I'd had the op. 3 weeks after contacting them and a month after contacting them I'd finished the weeks sick leave I took afterwards and was back at work as normal.

So for those who've completed their family/don't want a family in the first place its the ideal solution - provided you can get together the £1,340 it costs for a woman/bit less for a man.

  • sammy_kaye18 I know a lot of people on mirena who really sing it's praises so really may be worth a try? There is so much choice for contraception though! I used to be on microgynon but I am never going back on hormonal contraception again

I couldn't believe how much stuff was in our veg box yesterday, I was quite overwhelmed by it all! 2 massive pieces of broccoli, a cauliflower, a bag of potatoes, about 1kg of carrots, 5 courgettes, 4 really big beetroot, 3 sweetcorn, 3 massive leeks, about 6 good sized onions and a big bag of chard all fresh and delivered to our door. I know we could get cheaper veg but partly we get the organic delivery because it's supposed to help with DH's fertility problem but also it really, really does taste fantastic and I can tell the difference in flavour by getting fresh, seasonal veggies. I did have to pick a caterpillar out of the lettuce though!! We probably spend less by doing this than we did buying at the supermarket anyway though because all I need to do is buy some meat, cheese, bread and milk and I'm sorted for food.

It really was a lot cooler this morning, I got my boots out of the wardrobe to wear and struggled to zip them up!! They are quite a slim fit and I knew I'd gained a few lbs but not being able to zip up my boots...oh my! I will have to start eating smaller portions. I know really I should be using a smaller dinner plate and I do have one so I'll be eating from that and DH can continue to have a massive plate because he's a big guy (not weight wise but over 6ft tall) and if he misses out on food the weight drops off him so quickly (lucky s*d!) I really shouldn't be eating the same sized portions as him.

Have phoned Alliance & Leicester/Santander and was told by some snooty bloke that I had been allocated a new account due to my change in circumstances and that my overdraft facility had been withdrawn and fees attached, I really lost my rag then went ballistic, demanding to know what change of circumstances he was referring to.

  • I'm very sorry to hear that santandar is mucking you about Annie56 (although it doesn't surprise me)

I'd love to be the fly on the wall in that meeting with the bank manager :D

It's strange because I couldn't get an account with co-op for love nor money, but I'm glad they are treating you well. Hope you get on with them better than santandar (that's not that difficult tho!)

So they changed your account without warning you - then charge you for the result their actions have caused?

Oh I would love to be a fly on that wall.

And full marks to co-op bank.

O annie i am sorry this happened to you too...its awful..the way you can be treated at times...we are with them too and when my husbands wages stopped going in and jsa went in ..i got a snotty letter from them informng my overdraft was being withdrawn(never used it anyway) and then they charged me for the letter:mad:..fluff them...i went down to see them and the lady manager is my mums school friend and she was a bit embarrassed by it all..i got a refund for the letter being sent...apparently when your on a benefits you get "special treatment" i.e.treated like dirt...my account has never been overdrawn ever and i always make sure i have enough money to cover all dd's going out...its upsetting that they can do this to anyone...i hope you give them hell..would love to be a fly on that wall...
    take care
    xx

  • Annie - feel your pain re A&L have been stung by them so many times. Worse is, they just take the money and tell you later. Mean time your wondering why all your DD's are bouncing. Am seriously considering moving my overdraft, cancelling my DD's and trying to do it all weekly over the phone. By the way watch them as they want your money in the day BEFORE the DD or SO is taken out (its a good way to get more charges out of you) and you'll find that being paid weekly'fortnightly/four weekly really messes things up. The only time my account balances with them is in February!!

Hester - My fave Trago is Newton Abbot as well, but unfortuately its an hour's drive from here. The Liskeard one is only 10mins. There's a lot of history about the stores. Won't go into it now. They are a god send as we have few cheap stores round here, though I have noticed that they are not as good as they used to be (its since the owners dad died). Also the store near us is pretty pants at looking after its staff (probably because they really don't have to worry about it-lack of jobs in this area).
The problem with common sense is its not very common:rotfl:
