It's STILL tough and not getting better - so how are we coping?

Just received the latest bulletin of news ex-London! Mum has sorted out the self-medication issue and they have agreed that he can do it by himself. For now at least. Let’s see how long this one lasts. Also, the doctors are talking to Salisbury Hospital to see if they (Salisbury) can take him as an elective patient, rather than as an emergency patient. They are going to “exert pressure” on them to take him so that Mum can go back to the flat and have her own things around her. I get the impression she is not enjoying London life that much. Apparently, my sister has been a total star the whole time (I find that hard to believe myself! - Sister is a total pain in the !!!!! usually) but it will be better to have her own stuff around her again.
Mum is also going to talk to their GP and ask if the district nurses where they live will be prepared to put the antivirals on the pick line drip which they are going to attempt to put in this afternoon. If they are, then Mum is going to press for Dad to go straight home. Here’s hoping.
At least the news today is MUCH better than the news this time last week!"A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort"Herm Albright 1876-19440 -
Great Crickett, that is good news!

It's finally hit home that I'm unemployed as today I've received my last pay cheque. I would have been on holiday anyway with working in a school but now I'm thinking in 2 weeks daughter is back at school 8hours a day and husband at work 10 hours a day so some long days on my own. There are just no jobs about to apply for, shops not hiring and with schools budgets being slashed I'm not holding out any hope for doing teaching assistant work again. Have been feeling quite keen to save money and cook from scratch but now I suddenly feel quite low as I've never been in this position before in the 24 years since I left school, always worked apart from when on maternity leave. Am going out tonight with two old work colleagues from a previous job I did before the last one and we are going for a cheapie all you can eat chinese buffet style meal so that will be nice and is something to look forward to.
Joanne, I'm sorry to hear about your job. I'm not surprised you feel so low. I really hope there's something better for you just around the corner. xxSkint but happy with my lovely family

Jediteacher - Thanks for the support. I dread to think how some children are going to cope without teaching assistants in the future. I was supposed to be a 1:1 for 1 but worked with 6 children who all could have done with 1:1s .
Ginnyknit - Thank you, I'm trawling this site looking for inspiration daily and there is so much good advice on here.
Lambana - Sorry to hear about your Mum. I'd thought I would easily slip into another job then realised how tough it is right now when I started to look.
Crickett - Thank you. Glad your Dad is picking up, they are a worry parents. Sorry to hear about your job. It's good you have a plan to focus on and seem so positive. Good luck with that. x
Seasalt - Thank you. I am looking for a hobby. Had fancied college/evening classes but with watching the finances I'm not sure that can be done. Have started the cooking from scratch now.
Purpleheather2810 - Thank you, trying not to feel sorry for myself as so many people are in so much worse situations and my hubbie is the main breadwinner. Seriously thinking of doing some charity work rather than sitting at home 24/7 if a job isn't forthcoming. xEvery day is a new life to a wise man.

Have you had a look into free taster courses in your area? I did find this but it didnt say about costs, I know where I used to live they offered a few freebies:)

Thank you boultdj. I would, from a selfish point of view, be doing charity work to get out and see people and be useful but I find voluntary work very rewarding also. If the chance of a job came up through it then that would be an added bonus. Have filled out an application form to help out with Home-Start in the town where I live and the training for that starts end of September.Every day is a new life to a wise man.

Sorry to hear about your 4 year old Gailey. My daughter got chicken pox at same age when she started reception class at school and fortunately didn't suffer badly at all, not bad itching or anything. I appreciate it's not much fun if you can't get out though as it does seem that you are very good for getting your children out and about and entertained. I don't know how you manage all your cooking, you seem so busy all the time and with two young ones too. Are you secretly Superwoman? xxEvery day is a new life to a wise man.
