I also know of someone defrauding the system - if I knew his full details I would inform on him myself.

He is a friend of a friend, so don't know full name, address etc. but I was told the following story: -

When his medical was due he didn't shave for 3 days. Went to interview in old stained t-shirt. Took friend in with him to see doctor.

He sat end edge of his chair, looking scared, eyes darting all round the room, looking like a frightened rabbit. Friend kept saying 'you alright mate, don't panic, it'll be ok, we'll be out soon'.

When doctor wanted to know who 2nd guy was, he stated 'I have to go everywhere with him because he gets anxious/panic attacks and can't go anywhere on his own'. Doctor says ' Won't keep you any longer you can go early, as I can see he's getting agitated'

Result - friend gets backhander for going with his mate. Guy whose medical it was is still laughing all the way to the bank as he passed the medical.
    Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:mad::mad::mad::mad:

Can understand why system is overloaded with so many benefit cheats claiming they are ill. The trouble is government going after the good ones, and the bad ones keep getting through.

    Sorry, rant over
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

  • I really hope that this thread isn't going to turn into a benefit/scroungers anti thread. I have always enjoyed the support that I have received here and would be loathe to have to stop visiting.
Then God looked over all he had made, and said, "I can see idiots from my house".

I don't think it will. I just posted my story to illustrate how unfair the system is and how many hoops some people need to jump through to get any sort of thread. It was never meant as anything against those who genuinely claim anything. Never meant to offend anyone.

Same here, it does frustrate me but there are more important and let's face it, interesting things to discuss as far as I'm concerned :)

Oh dopn't worry about that grumpycupple, i think the people on here wouldn't allow it. If its don't turn like that i'll be jumping ship. After all wtc and ctc are benefits but a lot of people don't acknowledge them as such.

Well i'm back from the hospital and get my results back in 14 days.
Finally finished coddys room so now we have decluttered 8 bags of rubbish, sticks, old toys from both rooms. So as a reward told coddy we'll measure his curtains tonight.

Lauren i still have artwork on my walls off my snips (ds2) and i've tried all sorts so i'll be painting them again when the boys are back at school.

Just having a quick browse before i attack the house again.

No offence taken - not on my part, anyway. I understand that there are those who would and do rip the system off, and that will sadly always be the case.

However, my daughter is on 7 tablets a day, recently reduced from 13. Not because she is getting better, but because the new ones are stronger. She has a visit from the Mental Health Team weekly, sees a Psychiatrist monthly, has just started group therapy weekly, and has a one to one with a Psychotherapist weekly. She also sees our GP on a regular basis. She cannot go out alone without having panic attacks, which then lead to outbursts of anger the like of which you wouldn't believe, but most of the times she suffers such anguish, sadness and depression to such an extent...well, there are no words for what I watch her go through. When not in therapy, she spends most of her time either asleep, or sitting with curtains drawn, she self harms, and wishes she were dead 99% of the time.

She should not be forced to have a medical by some quack who has no comprehension of the nightmare she is living.
Letters, from the numerous medical experts whose care she is under should be sufficient to ensure she doesn't have to go through the trauma of a medical.

The same is true of Ginny & BigMummaF especially as I'm sure in both cases there will be records of limited ability and pain management medication on their GP & Hospital records.

What I'm saying, is that in extreme cases like this, letters from the relevant GPs/Hospital/Psychiatrists giving details of treatment and medication should be enough, sense should prevail!

We should not all be classed as scroungers when we have medical "proof" to the contrary.

I'm just pleased that i'm finally getting rid of junk, with the kids assistance. Just need to really declutter our room. Its just we have no storage space so our room, is a workshop/garage/junk room/bedroom you name it its in there. So i'm going to have a go at that in a bit.

Thanks for that grumpycupple i'm going to need it all the luck i can get. Right now i don't have any, just saw another bill come through the door.:(.

Its true though about the system penalising those who really need the assistance while for others who are just playing the system, get away with blue murder.
When my late mother was diagnosed with cancer they threw money at her, eyt when she was crippled with severe arthritis in both legs and could barely walk they said go on job seekers allowance, theys nothing wrong with you. Really pee'd me off.

But that's life and unfortunately theys nothing we can do about it. The people who really need the most help are the most likely to be ignored.
