I hope everyone enjoys their LCD that buys it and if you dont like it at least you have the option to take it back.

If people are concerned about returning, buy via the internet and you have the fallback of distance selling regulations. Will cost you £4.95 extra, but worth it for piece of mind.

ms01ma, as you are clearly not impartial:
"as long as we can resell it"
I'm not sure that your views on the product are valid. I'm the same as many of the other guys here ... I'm not a techie and was totally chuffed to find a very affordable 32" LCD television. However, having seen it in the shop I can honestly say that this television isn#t up to the standard that it should be which is a shame, because if I'm being honest I cant really afford / justify paying any more at the moment.
Bottom line: 100% buy from the local store and 100% get in writing that you can take it back if you are unhappy with it (as opposed to it simply being faulty). That way you're covered and you dont have to rely on the comments in this forum!!!!0 -
I know this is an aside issue but it just occurred to me. Can anyone tell me if an ordinary arial will give me a good picture on a LCD tv ?
I dont have Sky or any other service and Freeview not working in my area either !"The time is always right to do what is right"0 -

No iam not you know i work for the company what iam saying is as long as its repackaged woolworths are never going to know its even been used - our policy is 28 days money back guarantee as long as you keep box/packaging etc there is no problem - you will not get this in writing other than on the back of the receipt
its a budget set so its never going to be as good as a 800 toshiba0 -
ahll - I dont think that you'll be utilising an LCD's full potential, that's for sure, but it's certainly not bad at all. I guess that your best utilisation of the telly will be through watching DVD's on it?
ms01ma - I'm not having a go chap and you're dead right about budget sets not being as good as ones double the price.
My observation is simply that based on what you get for £400 I think you need to review your other options.
In fact, in a similar forum to this one I've noticed that someone has suggested that as none of us (the British public) have any idea about where HD is heading and that very little is currently supporting HD its probably better not to jump in (espeically buying a budget set!) but just sit tight and see what the next 6 months brings?
That's probably what I'm going to do now after seeing the picture wuality on budget sets and reading all the other (very useful) postings.0 -
Just as a quick aside to this. You cannot tell how good the picture quality is going to be instore, simply because they are not set up properly.
I have a budget 400 quid 32" LCD that looked rubbish in the shop but at home connected by some decent gold plated scart leads the picture is amazing0 -

totally true in my store we have no power anywhere near the tvs so not possible - generally they are hooked up to the cheapest dvd player with the cheapest scart as there is no instore budget for doing this0 -
Hey, am just going to throw my hat into the mix again, since I am actually planning on getting one of these based on the in-store quality.
The Woolworths that is local to me (Central Portsmouth) has this set hooked up to a £79.99 HDMI based Philips DVD player. The quality is superb playing Finding Nemo, especially as I found the remote control and fast forwarded to the bit where they're bouncing through the jellyfish... no motion blur that I could see and the colours were fantastic.
Yes you get what you pay for, but is it not possible that Woolworths are using this as a "loss-leader" to entice people into the store? I mean, you hear about a £399 panel and you're going to take a look... and while you're there why not check out the other panesls? and dvd players, and dvd's, and cd's and home improvement items... and so on and so forth.
The main problem here is the fact each store is allowed to set up in their own way due to the physical conditions of their departments with different cables and different video sources, also whoever sets it up may play with the settings if the urge takes them. Therefore comparing them is always going to be very difficult.Librarian: "Ook ook ookity OOK OOK!"

My TV has arrived in store and I'm going to collect it tomorrow morning with any luck. Once I've set it up I'll report back unless someone else has.0
