  • I have to say that Is aw this TV yesterday and it's a damned fine looking TV (PHysically). Although it wasn't plugged in to allow me to view the picture. The black finish has a very nice matt look. The backing of it is white like an older iPOD so that's a nice finish as well.

I'll try and get some photos of it when I got to look at it later today or tomorrow.

All I have to do now is convince my good lady that a black would be nice in the livingroom, family room or bedroom and I believe I'd be onto a winner.
... and that's all I have to say about that.

  • GUYS - PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS TELEVISION!

I just went to Woolworths at lunch in preparation to place an order with them for Monday, and picture quality is absolutely aweful. I will give a constructive breakdown of it:

    Good Points:
    Nice and big
Very flat screen and looks great in black
Plenty of inputs - very impressive

    Bad Points:
Movement on the screen is REALLY shaddowed and ghosting is constant
The colour is very dark compared to the other televisions next to it
The shading gradient is very bad

The film they were playing was chicken little; very vivid on the other televisions but looks genuinely poor on this one. I saw two in the store (one as you walk in and one in the TV dept) and both were the same. I played around with the contrasts, brightness, etc ... for a while but with no luck.

In short - yes you can own a big LCD television for cheap. But, hand on heart, I would not advise that you buy it because it really is bad quality. Either spend £100/£200 more or get a smaller set.

    You will be dissappointed.
  • Hate to disagree with you wittzi, but the one I saw in store on two subsequent days was playing Finding Nemo and was beautifully clear with great colour depth and contrast.

Not sure why there would be such a discrepancy?

  • I purchased a 17" integrated LCD DVD from Sainsburys for £112 down from £399 in March this year. It is a technosonic (NOT HD) and for the money yes it's not bad. However when you compare this to a Sony/LG.Philips etc - (and yes I am aware they all come from a limited # of factories)

Though I can agree some of the problems are poor set up of the set; it can take ages to get it right but some of the cheaper LCDs lack clarity and suffer from motion lag.

Many people think that as it is HD ready it makes a difference - well in someways it does but if the input is NOT HD like freeview, PS2 etc... it will still look grainy.

The trick to do is go into a John Lewis, Comet etc and see a top of the range LCD against a middle then bottom of the range and see if paying that extra £200-500 is worth the money.

We all know 12 months ago these were around £900 so the prices are coming down, no doubt in the January sales or pre xmas deals the HD prices for a branded LCD with excellent Contrast/brightness/res etc will be around the same price.

Just my opinion but be wary.. you MAY regret it - but if you're not a movie guru or just watch TV now and again rather than for horus and hours it may be for you
Me i'm always after a good deal.. :rotfl:
