  • definitely a good buy for £399 - though does anyone know if it has VGA-in and Component Input so can hook up PC and Xbox360?

Just to update you all. I popped in to my local Woolies this morning and they have this TV (Technosonic) for £399 for today only. It is available as a pre order and delivery due sometime next week.

The till price is £499 and goes through as such. The manager then has to authorise a £100 refund (done at the same time), effortless.

The TV itself looks great and only time will tell if it will be any good but for this price happy to try. They have also set up their own technical help department as they are selling more electrical equipment. If there's a problem they will sort it out.

I got to the store (Caerphilly) at around 10:15 and they had sold a few (pre orders) and over 50 were sold in the area yesterday which makes me believe it is across a few stores so call your local one to check. Hope this helps someone.

Problem is when you phone up the offers are gone !!, back up to £499 today, how do thay expect people to pay this for it when they drop it every other week to £399.

wait for the catalogue two weeks thursday - it will be £399.99 in there and will stay that price until xmas
  • Anyone know what connections the Technosonic has and what the picture quality is like?
  • Anyone????
  • I had a look at it today... or tried to. They put the damn thing on the very top shelf... I'm 6'4 and I could just about touch the base of the stand!

Luckily they left the box on the floor, so being the nosy sod that I am I opened it up and flicked through the manual. It has (according to the manual, I didn't get close enough to the real thing to confirm) the following connections:

2 x SCART (didn't say half or full, sorry)
VGA (D-SUB (and pc speaker in)
DVI or HDMI (dependant on model, but the one I saw said HDMI in big letters on the front of the panel. Nowhere did it say whether it was HDCP)
    YPbPr
    Aerial

I got only a brief look before an irate employee took the box and manual away from me, so sorry I can't really add any more apart from the image looked pretty damn crisp to me... was playing Finding Nemo instore and that happens to be one of my favourite films!

The remote control is quite small, whilte, and not the most expensive piece of kit in the world, but if it does the job, then no worries!

There are manual controls and a headphone socket on the right side of the unit (when looking at it). (menu, prog +/-, vol +/-)

The model instore was completely black, no silver insert as with the web image.

It can apparently handle showing the PC connection at the same time as a channel, the manual called it PiC (picture in computer) but as I said above, I really didn't have enough time to read it so can't say if that means it can handle PiP for other sources.

It didnt say whether it supported 1080i, contrast, brightness or any of the usual techy bits anywhere that I could see. sorry.

If anyone gets this, or a Woolies employee gets real bored, maybe someone can put some better details up. Hope this helps you out ran1gers2001!
