I've had the tv now for a full week and thought I'd post an update for those not yet ordered or waiting for it to arrive.

The TV does not make any noise when in standby. I've turned everything off including lights and other equipment and left the tv plugged in. Absolutely nothing so might be a problem with your set mate.

If anything (and not sure if this is possible) the set is getting better and better! I have absolutely no complaints on the picture quality from an SD source - not tried HD yet! I've no idea why people say the build is cheap or crap but everyone is entitled to their opinions - that's what makes the world go round. I love the black surround and so glad I bought it when i did and not got the silver one.

    any questions just shout.

Ah ! , thats why I dont come here muc, have no idea what Im on about ! , from a lamens point of view it looks a lot nicer than the woolies one , not so sure I would even notice the hd , as Ive never had it , but suppose the pcworld one would be an antique in a year or so without it !
  • I have bought the Technosonic (Thompson) but I am unsure of a good quality HDMI cable to buy, at the moment I have the free one Telewest supplied but it is not great, I had a loan of one from Argos and it was quite good it cost my pal 25 quid, also what is the best set up including my DVD recorder and Telewest tv drive (not sure I am doing it right) cheers.

Thanks for the reply Warnie, that seems a very cheap price, I can not understand the varied prices,is it realy that much better spending £60 - £80, if any of you out there could let me know how you get on with the cable you bought that would be fantastic, thanks all. :D
