Right, just got off the phone with A&L, really fuming now. They are quoting an additional 10-14 days on top of the two weeks because of the backlog. They have known about this backlog for some time, yet when I received the second offer yesterday, it still said that I could expect to get the cheque in two weeks. I wasn't happy with the PPI department, so phone the general complaints department and unloaded on them (in a calm and polite manner I might add). The women said they were still saying two weeks in their offer letters because "we might have caught up with it (the backlog) by then." Really am very annoyed. I know I'm lucky to have got two offers, but the fact that it's taking so long to get the money is very frustrating. We had budgeted for the first cheque coming this week. My wife has been on maternity leave for the last nine months so it's been a bit of a squeeze and this money will help greatly.
Halphy, any joy with your cheque yet?
Hi
Hope you receive your money soon then, fingers crossed and surely they would have to pay out more interest as well.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

Nothing Paul im fuming with them, just waiting in the queue now...we need the cash also ASAP, broken boiler :mad:0 -
Our letter said two to three week, three weeks was yesterday (allowing them a day to receive our signed acceptance). Husband telephoned them this morning to be told there's another 10-14 day wait, due to the high volume of claims.
We're also furious. We're off on holiday on the 5th August and would like the money to take with us.
So what do we do now? We accepted their offer based upon the fact that they promised the cheque within 3 weeks. As it's not arrived, can we start charging them £25 a day for unlawful borrowing of funds or something?!0 -
I would be annoyed too, in fact I am still waiting for a refund different bank though, and was told 4 different dates, since May......, so I am constantly on their backs about this, but do have a good mind to take it further either by requesting extra compo for the distress and inconvenience or to the FOS, maybe both.
They have been told my dad just passed away and the money would come in handy at this time, and they have no tact at all.
Good luck to you all still waiting and keep on their backs.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"

I would also consider maybe getting in touch with the FSA as well, although not sure how helpful they will be, but afterall they are their regulators. The one and only "Dizzy Di"

50 minutes on hold, to finally speak to someone who tells me to call back between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm as the PPI lines are closed now. So, prey tell, why does an automated call system put calls through to a department that's essentially closed?
I wouldn't mind, but the customer services rep was rude as hell *sigh*.0 -

I got the same to say at 6.55 the lines closed at 7pm....they are disgusting, ive been told mine was sent on the 14th?????? Whats that then A LIE!0 -
Not ppi but ive got a claim in for letter charges on an old loan and its now 10 weeks passed and they just keep fobbing me off with "we'll be in touch soon, weve received your contact and will process soon" type emails. Just emailed them now to say that unless i'm refunded within 14 days i'll be going to court without further notice.
I'd say theyve been tightening the belt and probably letting a few go in the complaints department, keep on at them I say.
