Sausages recipes please!

    I'm not even hugely keen on sausages and I'm trying to lose weight! But I was given 5kg (in 2 traysm that have to be defrosted all at once!) and I bought 3 trays of 18 sausages from Tesco the other day as they were reduced... which I also froze so they will have to be defrosted all in one go too.

    DH took sausages to work in his sarnies last week but he's bored of them now. I need ideas for things I can bulk cook then refreeze, like sausage casserole. Will be having a BBQ but it's just SO MANY SAUSAGES!

    Please help!

    Sausage casserole
    Sausage & bacon pasta
    Toad in the hole.
    Sausage & 3 bean casserole.

    Skin the sausages to make stuffing or sausage rolls.
    Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.

    Hi ragz,

    Don't panic! :) You'll need to decide what to make with them, then defrost and do some batch cooking and once they're cooked they'll be fine to freeze again in portion sizes. This thread has lots of ideas that should help:

    Donate them to the local homeless shelter? Better still, set up a hotdog stand for the homeless tomorrow afternoon - social emterprise is very rewarding.

    Just a tip for next time..I too managed to pick up almost 60 expensive sausages this week reduced to next to nothing, but I open froze them first on a tray. Once they were frozen I put them into a couple of freezer bags, that way they don't stick together and you'll be able to lift out as many as you want at a time.

    It is nice, it asks for decent sausages and I've done it with normal sausages before and tbh it was a bit bland but I'm sure you could liven it up a bit.

    I had actually thought of donating some to somewhere but I have a feeling that I would have to go quite a long way from here to find a homeless shelter (in the middle of the Sussex countryside!) and then if I did I imagine the health and safety squad wouldn't let me donate frozen meat anyway.

    I didn't have tha option with the HUGE packs as they were frozen but I should have really thought of doing that with the others :o, doh! Thanks for the tip :)

    Just defrost them enough to snap some off, pop the rest back in the freezer.

    I hate sausages.
