The C max fits the bill perfectly

But it doesn't fit the bill perfectly. Yours maybe, but not his.

There are plenty of other options available to you.

Don't take this personally, but this kind of attitude drives (no pun intended) absolutely mental! Lucky to have a job? No! The vast majority of people who have a job don't have it because they are lucky, they have it because they work hard and apply themselves. Luck has very little to do with it and to suggest otherwise belittles the amount of hard work done, and gives more excuses for people to not do as much.

So people who dont have a job are not hardworking and dont know how to apply themselves?

Failing illness or disability - yes. Anything else is an excuse.

To the OP - probably time to go through the CSA for the payments to your OH's ex. There's £110 a month that you could save right there.

Do you have any idea how hard getting a job is these days?

If you're picky then it is. But that's just another excuse. It's amazing how some people who spend every day actively looking for work seem to find it very easily, compared to those that sit at home and moan that there's nothing about.

Is the BMW 5 series not an option for you, if you don't feel the 3 series is big enough?

I can promise you I am not picky I would do virtually anything and can not find a job right now.

Do you spend every single day walking around to shops and businesses handing out tailored cover letters and CVs? Do you spend your evenings applying for every single job online? I doubt it somehow. It's very easy to find work if you're willing and able.

Some people just like big cars and will use every excuse they can find to have one, even when there's no real need.
