Screamer - sorry to hear you are struggling. I gave up smoking 3 years ago and I know how hard that was and can see why it would be difficult to do that and concentrate on sw. Think you are doing right to approach it one step at a time. We will all be here to support you if you want to do sw without going to class.

TakeItEasy - congrats to your son, hope you can get some sleep now!

Next wi is tomorrow night have stuck to plan other than Sunday when we went to silverstone so really hope to have lost even if a small amount.

Actually, I think SW would be quite a good thing to do alongside stoppping smoking. When I stopped last time ( :o) I piled the pounds on as when i would have had a fag ( eg with a cuppa) I went for the half a packet of biscuits option instead

Free foods when needing to do something with your hands "and filling the space" would be quite a good thing, esp if they are superfree and /or superspeed

I say this, but am smoking.

    Must stop. MUST.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

Congratulations to Takeiteasy's son! Great news.

I went into school today (I am a teacher) to get GCSE results. I had a student who hadn't worked at all in year 11 (I had called her parents in a number of times and talked to her about it with them during the year) tell me she wanted to re-take all her GCSEs at our school. (We don't do re-takes, apart from the odd student who is doing A levels and needs to improve a particular GCSE). She doesn't want to go to college or do an apprenticeship. She will be lucky to be accepted at college or get an apprenticeship with the grades she has, and few jobs around. She wants to rewind to the beginning of year 11, but she can't. So sad and frustrating to see the penny finally drop but too late.
Sorry, that was very off topic.

Went for lunch at Waitrose afterwards to celebrate/commiserate with a friend from work. Had a "Cafe Salad", which was lentils, endame beans, pomegranate seeds, watercress and goats cheese. I don't know if it would be on the website? Really yummy and the best choice there was (they don't do baked potatoes). I also bought the ingredients for the chocolate and mint ice creams in the latest magazine.
I seem to be having a cooking frenzy over the last few days, don't know how it is going to go when I go back to work. Forward planning will be essential I think. If I plan my meals on a Friday evening (instead of guzzling the wine like before!) I can shop on Sat morning after taking the kids swimming and spend the afternoon prepping. I do love cooking.

Any suggestions for SW when busy?

Weigh in today: 174 pounds! 10 pounds less than when I was weighed by the doctor in the US. I think I will have to check my scales, but I do think I have lost some weight. Makes me very hopeful!

    Sorry for the loooooooong post!

I always make sure I batch cook and freeze some syn free things like chilli, spag bol, curry, goulash then when Im rushed Or not sure what to do I can just throw something in the microwave with some pasta/rice & veggies.

This helps a lot in my house too as my OH is really fussy sometimes what he wants to eat....or sometimes ends up on late lunch at work so only wants a sandwich in the evening  so I can just do my own (I make sure some are single portions ;))
  • Sweet: do you fancy microwaving your mushrooms?

Thank you, I would if I had one :o Tis on my list of things to buy, that and a new Fridge Freezer!!

Most nights I pop a Muller light into the freezer for about 1.5 hours. It gets a nice crunchy top, then a smooth hard creamy bit, then the middle at the bottom is just cold but not frozen - I love them like that, especially the toffee and the banana ones.

Mmmmmmm, sounds lovely *tootles off to put one in the freezer*

Right, I'm back ;) I had a choice of 2 - strawberry or mandarin & I've decided to go with the mandarin - hopefully timed just right to have after my dins :D

I use my george foreman and It gives a lovely result!

Thanks, don't have a GF either - well, actually I do but it's sooooo minging I don't use it any more!! :o Will try your other suggestions though, ta :)

I've just been on the wii fit for 36 minutes (to be precise ;)) not really doing anything exercisey, I like the balance ones, still feel nicely warmed up though so must have had a bit of a workout!!

Decided to have a Tunnocks Teacake for 5.5 syns with my coffee. I couldn't decide whether I wanted that or 2 jaffa cakes for 7 syns  Decisions, decisions!! :rotfl:

Good idea. I have a Jamie Oliver curry sauce that I adapted to make nearly syn-free last time I was on SW. I will cook a big batch of that to freeze, then just need to cook veg in sauce.

    Thanks!

  • hi everyone i haven't read today's posts i am just here for a whinge and a moan.
i have followed green days religiously for 4 weeks now and lost 0.5lb,1lb then STS for 2 weeks. i know i was on holiday but i didn't veer off the plan at all.

i am now feeling very despondent and pretty much what's the point :(

i do eat a lot of free foods but always have 1 third superfree even on green , and i don't always use all my syns , but usually most of them .

i am more active than i have ever been , just wondering if i should do weight watchers instead as it restricts you - i think i need that :(

sorry to come on and moan i was so looking forward to getting some weight off , it is costing me a fortune and nothing happens .

i am off to cook real food for my kids and rabbit food for me so will be back later :rotfl:

thanks all for "listening " xx

Really sorry you are so down, it must be frustrating. I hope someone has some advice for you. Are you weighing your healthy extras and syns? e.g. are you sure any bread you are using is the right size? Can you give us an idea of what your food diary looks like so we can suggest things?
Hugs:grouphug: (always think this smiley looks a bit dodgy!)
