    Hi everyone,

I hope I'm posting in the right place. I did SW a few years back and lost 1.5 stone. Needless to say a few years off plan and some lovely nights out have taken their toll.

I've been on WW since Feb and basically lost 2.5lbs... yes in 6 months!! :( So I want to go back to SW, but because of work this week I cant get to the meeting until next Wed.

I dont want to just stuff my face for another week so wondered if someone could tell me if I'm doing it right?

Want to stick to Green or Red days (the extra easy sounds too confusing for me right now).

Am I right in thinking pasta, potato, rice, etc is free on green, on red its all about the meat? Egg is free on both?

Also, how many HE's are you supposed to have?

Its been a while, but I can remember the basics!!

    Today I've had;

Breakfast - cereal and milk (HEA and HEB)
Lunch - Pasta, salad, new potatoes
    Snacks - apples, strawberries
    Dinner - beans on toast

Am I right in thinking most of that is free apart from the HE I mentioned?

Any help greatly appreciated so I dont end up putting on even more weight in the interim until I can get to class next week!!

When I make my yogurt using my easi-yo I do the following:

    1. Ensure the UHT milk and starter yogurt are both at room temperature.
    2. Half fill the beaker with the milk and add 3-4 tablespoons of powdered milk and stir till dissolved.
    3. Add 2 good tablespoons of starter yogurt. Starter yogurt is any live yogurt, I buy a shop's own brand fat free natural yogurt and use some of that the first time.
    4. Top up the beaker with more milk and give it a good stir.
    5. Place the beaker inside the flask (add the boiling water first!),
    6. Leave for about 8 hours (it's ok for longer, mine's often about 12 hours).

The keys to getting thick yogurt using skimmed milk are adding the milk powder and also keeping it as warm as possible for as long as possible. This isn't a problem at this time of year but in the winter I create what is affectionately known as 'the yogurt monster'!!! I stand a large tupperware on the floor next to a radiator, stand the flask on top then cover the whole thing with a doubled over beach towel.....it really does make all the difference!!!

I've tried the sachets but they were yukky!!!

There is a whole thread about esiyo yoghurt makers on the old-style board along with how to make your own yoghurt without one;)

I have been purely angelic today. After my lovely brekkie I was full until lunch time, I had my HM beef soup with a huge load of melon afterwards (although I have a question about melon) I have bought some salad, so will be having that with steak and a small (HEb) of jacket potato. I will probably need a little snack in between so have got some lovely delicious bbq snack a jacks I think they are 2-3 syns each (could someone please check)

Melon - Are they all free foods of are certain varieties synned?

    Thanks Guys xx

    Hi pj
yup you're on the right tracks there ;)

on red & green you have 2 HEA and 2 HEB

EE is not really so complicated once you get going.....its sooooo flexible its untrue, its just about remembering to have 1/3 of your plate as superfree veggies(ones that are free on both plans...so that doesnt include spuds peas corn) and fruit & only 1HEA/HEB
(but as a previous SW member I did find it confusing being able to eat my red & green on the same day at 1st :rotfl:

    Hi & welcome.

If you are doing reds and greens you get 2 x HEB & HEA's a day plus your syns of between 5-15.

From your menu, you need to count your toast as a HEB if it is wholemeal (1 HEB = 2 slices from a 400g loaf) and synned if granary or white etc. Everything else looks good to go as free on a green day.

Yes green frees are the veggies (inc peas & s/corn)and fruits, pulses, rice, tata, pasta and noodles. Red frees are fruit and veg (ex peas, s/corn tata) and meat and fish.

I think quorn is free on both too.

    Good luck xx

Hey I remember when my boy (now 20) had his 1st day at college....I was a bag of nerves :o it was like sending him to nursery school all over again, I was worried he would get on the wrong train and get lost and all sorts :rotfl: kids eh....

Thats me all over and he hasn't even started yet, this week is all fitness training and hubby is taking/collecting. When he starts properly in September hubby will take but he has to come home on bus. I'm worring already, what if he misses bus then what if he misses conecting bus from city etc. I was the same when he started high school, probably be same when [if] he gets a job :rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

Thank you for your responses! I hope I can keep on the 'rough idea' of the plan to limit the damage before class.

I think the extra easy sounds a bit healthy, I do remember last time becoming a little obsessed with eating weird combos as they were super slimming! LOL But WW was so restrictive especially on fruit and veg, who would waste 1.5 points on a banana, when you can have two biscuits instead?!

As we speak I'm sat here with a big bowl of strawberries :)

    Thanks everyone x

I hate to say this (and someone may have already said it) but as I understand it the size of shorts in pubs has increased, thus the syns have also increased. It's 4 for vodka now if I remember rightly (I'm a wine gal myself and that hasn't changed!)

just out of interest - is it still 6 syns for a glass of wine? what if I have white wine with soda water????

    thanks

lol I know what you mean :rotfl:

But On EE now I do find it such A joy to be able to have a NORMAL big plate of lean mince spag bol and lots of pasta (just loaded with extra chopped carrot onion & celery & toms for the veggies) or a dinner of braised steak & onion gravy with SW roasties and cabbage carrots & green beens...all at the same time :T

to me it kind of seems more like a normal way of eating....and its easier to do if you're out and about.....carverys are fab!!!!!! 5 syns top for the yorkie and gravy and you have to be rolled home cos you've eaten more than anyone else :rotfl::rotfl:

    B.

Betty, it's 6 syns for 175 ml, it's more (8 I think) for the larger pub measure of ?250 ml. if you have your 175 ml of any colour wine and then add soda water it's still 6 syns :)RedMel, melon is all free but watermelon is not superfree and the other melons are if you see what I mean.
    :jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

    thank you Slimming World!
