Evening all! just popped on to say thanks for all your help and advice the other day (especially dizzy, you always manage to make me smile) I'm feeling a bit more positive today. I felt really fed up yesterday but I've given myself a good talking to and tried to pull myself together. Hope you're all having good weekends. XX

  • Hey all,
Had a really bad day yesterday - had some bad news about a friend and it threw me off plan completely. I didn't eat much, and when I did it was fish and chips because I had no energy or sense to cook.

Today, I'm back on plan and trying to get on with things as normal. I spent an hour in the gym this morning, which got things off to a good start. I've tackled the big pile of washing up and me and the OH have been shopping. Went to Morrisons this time, who seemed to have much better deals on fruit and veg!

So it's been a red day for me (don't usually do these)

B - Bran flakes (HEB) and milk (HEA)

L - 2 wholemeal toast (HEB) and beans

D - SW chilli and cheddar cheese (HEA)

Snacks - Homemade fruit salad (blueberries, strawberries, kiwi)

Syns - none so far, but I have bought a few treats so I just need to pick one!

hello everyone i am back from my hols now thank god !
my 9 yr old boy was propositioned by a man in the toilets of the holiday village we stayed in
he had to give evidence to the police which was recorded
luckily he seems to be not too worried by it all but i was so upset .

managed to stay on track food wise there was a good selection of food but not a great deal of variety from one day to another so i was spending 6 syns a day on oil for cooking (over estimated as i wasn't cooking) and 4 syns on tinned prunes (chosen over grapefruit as i could count them ).

so in short i ate lots of beans , eggs , salad and jacket potatoes :D
i did some dancing and swimming too but am a wee bit nervous as i miissed a WI and was guessing some things too

i have just finished reading the thread from where i left off - took me most of today :)

does anyone use a treadmill ? i have bought one on ebay for £80 , my dad is picking it up for me monday . my intention is to use it whilst watching rubbish on tv - i am far too shy to go to a gym and babysitters are few and far between !

hope you are all well xx

omg that is awful !!! but glad he seems ok about it xx

something that ive been curious about - whats the difference between creme fraiche fromage frias and low fat yoghurt ?? and why do use one product over another
    :j MFi3 wannabee :j
    mortgage owing 04.07 £36,000
    mortgage owing 07.10 £0 !!!!
  • thanks hun it's amazing how resiliant kids are .

i don't know if they reallly taste that different - for me it's the texture

yogurt is runny enough to have with cereal if you don't want to use a HEA

fromage frais is thicker , but i usually mix it with an equal amount of shape zero yogurt as it is more satisfying for me

i haven't really used creme fraiche - any ideas anyone ?
and can you buy it fat free as i have only ever seen low fat

I thought this would class as misuse of free food but my consultant told us how to do it so I assume it's ok.....didn't do too big a potato though as its still calories after all!!!

Actually you were right and it is classed as misuse of free food. Ask your Consultant to check with head office because she's obviously missed out on the this bit of info.

Having said that, if you only use these as an occasional treat it's going to be fine. Syn them as you would for potatoes on a Green day - they'll be better for you than a bag of Walkers ;)

Beans aren't free on red so you would have to syn them as you've had both b's. Don't think they're high syn wise though.

    Hi

Still deciding which group to go with :o I am a type 2 diabetic and wanting to use SW to lose quite a few stone but GP keeps saying the other one ;) (WW) is better. I just cant understand why as they cant provide me with 'discounts' for either so why such a push plugging for WW over SW?

All I want to do is get on and lose weight but am battling with GP to agree SW is ok for me as Type 2. Cant find a statement anywhere on either WW or SW site to say its not suitable.

    Can anyone HELP please?

    Thanks

In my opinion, SW is healthier because we are encouraged to always choose the healthy option, whereas with WW, you are given a certain amount of points to choose whatever you want with. With most of us (me included) given the choice of, say an apple or a small bar of chocolate for the same number of points, I'd choose the chocolate every time, which especially for a diabetic, would be extremely unsuitable.

However, if you're determined to lose weight and choose healthy options over unhealthy, then either would work (just, SW is sooooo much easier, lol).
