Great news! I was amazed to be offered 12 vouchers - blimey, if there are more to come than that is a huge saving. I wonder if I can do it? 5kg every 12 weeks, hmmmmm. I'll give it a go!

I managed to do it, but i did (still do) have alot to loose!

Don't be dissappointed if you don't get more though - as i know that some doctors are mean & only give out one set and that is it! And i think once you get to a certain BMI they don't give them out any more!

Just a warning, but it is a great kick start! Good Luck x

Just Back from my trip out to the supermarket :T (how sad that I can get so giddy about it LMAO:rotfl:) ........ bought myself a big bar of galaxy cookie crumble to portion up for my daily treats, plus my usual kitkats (Im such a creature of habit!) and stocked up on more plums and strawbs.

Asda still doing the steam fresh veggie or rice & veggie packs packs 3 for £3 so got some more of them too as they're really good.

My lunch is just about ready so off to stuff my face now :D

Best thing to do is have a SW friendly meal before you go! Then you won't be so hungry and scoff the buffet. I went out one night this week to an outdoor theatre event and me and friends all brought food for picnic. I knew there would be some high syn things like cheeses, crips, dips, cakes etc, so I had a jacket spud and HEA cheese allowance before I went, and I stuck to all my SW friendly stuff apart from one beer and one choccie biscuit.

Sadly I think popcorn is high in syns :( but I think the Snack a Jacks popcorn is reasonable, although you'll need to get someone to check the syns for you as I don't have access to SW online.

Butterkist toffee popcorn is 5 syn per 25g, which is exactly the same as the snack a jack caramels 25g bag (only twice as yummy :D)

I just buy a big bag of butterkist and weigh out 25g portions and dont bother with the snack a jacks anymore.....works out a whole lot cheaper too!! ;)

aww thanks anyway dizzy - thinking it shouldnt be too bad as its basically tomotoes and loads of onions - just the oil makes it bad ....

Creamy curries, rich rice dishes and non-stop poppadoms – a night in an Indian restaurant can amount to staggeringly high Syns! (And that’s not including the lager to help it down!) But it’s not all bad news for your baltis; there are loads of tikka-tastic ways to enjoy a Food Optimising feast, Indian-style!
The basis for most curries is ghee (clarified butter); the addition of oil and cream is why the Syns start soaring. Indian dining doesn’t have to be a Syn slip-up however. Great options include dishes that come minus the creamy sauce, eg tandoori chicken (marinated in spices and yogurt) and rice dishes such as biryani (meat/vegetables mixed with rice).

    Tandoori tips:
    • Starters/side orders – curry accompaniments such as naan bread are a whopping 20 Syns each on average - popping a poppadom saves 16 Syns at just 4 Syns each. Low Syn dips include onion sambal (1 level tbsp is ½ Syn on Original and Green), cucumber raita (1 Syn for a level tbsp), lime pickle (1 level tbsp 1½ Syns on Original and Green) and mango chutney (1 level tbsp 2 Syns on Original and Green)
    • Chicken dishes – fab for an Original day, Chicken Dhansak is 6½ Syns on Original and 18½ Syns on Green*, Chicken Jalfrezi is 8½ Syns on Original, 18½ Syns on Green*, Chicken Vindaloo is 8 Syns on Original, 20 Syns on Green* and Chicken Tandoori is 9 Syns on Original, 21 Syns on Green*. If you’d like rice with your Original dishes, 100g (about a medium portion) of boiled rice is only 6½ Syns! Alternatively, a crispy salad is Free!
    • Vegetable dishes – great for Green, Vegetable Jalfrezi is 7½ Syns on Original and Green*, Vegetable curry is 9 Syns on Green, 12½ Syns on Original*, Gobi Aloo Saag is 11 Syns on Green, 14½ Syns on Original*, Vegetable Biryani 11½ Syns on Green and 21 Syns on Original*.
    • Member Brian Semple has a top tip for eating out, Indian style. “Whenever I go for an Indian I ask for my meal to be ghee-free. No-one has ever said it can’t be done and it tastes just as good!”

    *For an average serving
Whilst these are some of the lower Syn Indian options, to enjoy a real slap-up Food Optimising feast, fill up on heaps of salad as an accompaniment to your dishes. On Green enjoy mountains of rice - whilst an average portion of pilau rice is 2½ Syns on Green, you can enjoy piles of boiled basmati rice for Free!
Watch out for... high-Syn starters such as vegetable samosas (2 small ones are 7½ Syns) and onion bhajis (8½ Syns each).
