I have tummy ache :( I have noticed this is ALWAYS when I have had pasta or noodles for lunch... grrr. Note to self stay away from them from now on.

Moussaka in the oven, smells lovely, can't wait for tea but first..... yet more shopping for fruit and veggies. I wish there were those veggie box deliveries here.

Trixietoes can I ask what you use to make your white cheese sauce for Mousakka? Was thinking of making it over the weekend but my usual white sauce recipe is not very SW friendly!

  • Niandra, your picnic sounds more like a feast!!

lynz, do you have the ingredients to rustle up a roulade??

    Look at this :

Wouldn't you rather have a big slice of that than malted milk biccies?!

Sorry, just needed an excuse to showcase my roulade, I'm rather proud of it!! :rotfl:

Yum Yum!!! I'm going to make the roulade at the weekend, bet it won't look as good as yours though!!!
  • Fruit Roulade (1/2 syn for the whole lot)

    1 TUB QUARK
    4 EGGS
    1 TSP BAKING POWDER
4 TBSP SWEETNER (I ADDED LOT MORE LOL)
    VANILLA ESSENCE (OR ANY)
    FRESH FRUIT

    SEPERATE THE EGGS

ADD THE YOLK, HALF THE QUARK,
BAKING POWDER, SWEETNER AND ESSENCE INTO A BOWL, WHISK TOGETHER AND SET ASIDE.

WHISK EGG WHITE TILL STIFF. WHISK HALF INTO THE MIXTURE THEN FOLD IN OTHER HALF.

USING A SWISS ROLL TIN SPRAY WITH FRY LIGHT ( I PUT GREASPROOF PAPER IN FIRST THE SPRAY SO DOESNT STICK) POUR THE MIXTURE IN AND BAKE AT
    180 FOR 15 - 20 MINUTES. LEAVE TO COOL

IN A DISH ADD REMAINING QUARK ,SWEETNER, AND ESSENCE AND MIX TOGETHER.

REMOVE THE CAKE FROM TIN WHEN COOL SPREAD THE QUARK EVENLY, ADD FINELY CHOPPED FRUIT (STRAWBERRY AND BANANA MY FAVE). ROLL THE CAKE FROM ONE END. SLICE TO SERVE.

THE WHOLE CAKE IS ONLY HALF A SYN AND THATS THE BAKING POWDER. CAN ALSO ADD CHOC OPTIONS SACHET FOR FLAVOURING. WHEN THE CAKE COMES OUT OF THE OVEN IT WILL HAVE RISEN LOADS BUT WILL GO VERY FLAT WHEN COOL LOL I THOUGHT IT HAD GONE WRONG FIRST TIME I MADE IT BUT WAS LOVELY.

Not sure who posted this a few pages back, but I'm glad they did!! :D

I use a little bit of flour and milk to make a seasoned white sauce and bulk it up with plain or garlic quark then add a whisked egg and put the cheese on the top as OH doesn't like cheese so just put it on my half. So it's not free but I don't mind spending a couple of syns to make the sauce.
