As far as I am aware if you make gravy using browned-off/caramelised onions with some stock and herbs that is free. If I add wine to the above delicious concoction I put a splosh out of my already measured and synned wine glass. Honest.
Consultant would know better than me though.
I did try gravy granules once as people seemed to use them. To me, there was absolutely no taste at all. Luckily it was on special offer so I didn't feel bad about binning the rest of the pack
Spot on Blackberry-rum, as usual, and may I say, your gravy sounds deliciousI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Can anyone tell me how you win 'slimmer of the week'? It seems a bit haphazard who wins it at my group!
Thanks
The Slimmer Of The Week has to have
a) lost most weight this week
b) lost weight last week
c) stayed to group
d) not be a first weeks weight loss member
Now we're on the Express Weight system there shouldn't be mistakes made as the machine works it all out.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Good morning and welcome newbies.
I lost 2 1/2 lbs last night at weigh in, although the display thingy said 3 lbs. When I questioned it, I was told: " Oh the display doesn't show half pounds, you aren't suppose to see the display anyway" so I was quite upset about that and the fact that the Weigh in woman had her back turned having a convo with the consultant the whole time she was weighing people, only to turn around when the scales beeped, and the consultants 10(ish) year old daughter was writing in everyone's books (which she didn't know how to do)
Anyway, I haven't caught up yet with the thread, it is going so fast, will have a read now.
Have a great day everyone.
Ooh, I'm hopping mad on your behalf
First of all, the weigh-in lady and your Consultant are the only people who should ever look at the scales APART FROM YOU!!!! Of course you should be able look at the read-out. It's meant to be turned slightly towards you so that you can see it but no-one else can. They are also supposed to have signed a confidentiality agreement which should be on show on the weigh-in desk.
I'm would suggest you screw up your courage and ask the Consultant to see that her child does not write in your book in future. It will probably not be easy, but the alternative is that you report what is happening to Slimming World head office. This is not the way a SW group should be run!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
hello everyone
sorry to be always asking questions , but how is it worked out how many syns you should have ?
my consultant has gone for a blanket 10 accross the board regardless of what weight you are or what plan you are on.
i've been reading here and mini mims and most people seem to be allowing 15
i don't have much to lose so i think 10 is probably right for me , i am just curious really .
i've just had a huge ham mushroom and sweetcorn omelette with tinned tomatoes for breakfast . i like a fry up but can't bear to use my HEB on bread now i've discovered kellogs fibre plus bars !!
also does everyone go by the 20 calories= 1 syn rule ?
The 20 cals = 1 syn is not so much a rule as a rough guide (and I emphasise rough). It doesn't work with everything so take care, but it can be handy if you've no other means of guessing a syn value in an emergency.
Syns allowed are actually 5 - 15 per person per day, but with the advent of Extra Easy it was decided that if Consultants recommended 10 syns, then any new members who may make mistakes with their calculations would be covered.
It's easy to go over by a few syns and EE is such a generous plan anyway that a few extras each day would slow the weight loss to unacceptable levels.
Aim for 10 but don't stress about having a couple over the odds is what I advocate.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Bexterragga wrote: »Hey Everyone,
Good work to all those that have had a loss!!
I put on 1lb in my weigh-in lastnight. I'm really not happy because I made a lot of changes last week and I really gave things a go. I changed to sweetener, I used the online syn values to check things before I ate them, I went to the gym 3 times, I cooked from scratch every day, ate more veg with my meals.....
Right now I feel a bit lost, just because I don't know what I've done wrong. I am due for my 'star week' which could explain the gain, but I was expecting a better result on the scales.
Does anyone have any advice at all about what I do for the coming week? It would be really appreciated at the moment! x:)
It is possible (and I have seen it happen many times) for a woman to add 4lbs on a star week. It's just fluid and bloating, so don't worry about it, keep to plan and it will be a favourable result for you next week - sounds to me like you're doing everything rightI let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
