  • Hi Everyone. Im a long time lurker with a very chequered slimming world history and read the thread every day lookinng for inspiration. I noticed someone was after a carrot cake recipe (I think it was Cherub) and I saw an alternative one if the bran one didnt appeal, more syns but looks worth it if you can stop at one piece!
    4oz low fat spread
    2oz light soft brown sugar
    Zest of 1 orange
4tblsp sweetness and light brown sweetner
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    3 large eggs
    4oz self raising flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    2 tsp mixed spice
    3oz grated carrots

Put the spread, sugar, sweetner and orange zest in a bowl and mix. Whisk the vanilla in to the eggs then stir into the sugar mixture ( dont worry if it looks curdled).
Fold in the flour, baking powder, mixed spice and grated carrot.
Spoon into a 8 inch loose bottomed cake tin lined with baking parchment and bake for 20 minutes at 180.

    For the topping

    4oz quark
    3 tblsp sweetner
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
    icing sugar to dust

You can also top with thinly sliced pineapple if you want to increase youre 1/3rd superfree!!

Combine all topping ingredients and spread over the cooled cake.

I'll be trying this myself at the weekend so I'll report back.

I can't see how many sins this is? Or am I being blind?

I'm not a big fan of horses and will probably sound quite stupid I know but how does horse riding burn loads of calories? - or does the horse ride you ? lol

Lol! It's seriously hard work and the more experienced you are, the harder work it is...my lesson will be as tiring as if I'd spent the 45mins running!!! I'll be trotting and cantering most of the time and when you're also trying to get the horse to work properly rather than plodding around it take some serious effort!!

Just a quick question, has anyone seen Whoopiedoo [Carmen, cous cous fritta Queen] on here recently? Am following her blog but she hasn't updated for ages. Just wondering how shes doing.

Also anyone who didn't get the result on the scales that they wanted, have you measured yourself? Sometimes the scales don't move but the inches do. Worth a thought :D

Oh and can anyone describe what mango tastes like, I want to try it but its a waste of money if I don't like it.
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

    Gorgeous, absolutley gorgeous.

Soft, silky, very sweet. Unlike anything else, really. Texture slightly reminds me of tinned peaches, but the flavour is amazing.

I love mangos Very opccasionally here you get bargains. ( ie sometime s a whole box for £3 havent seen these for a while I think its later in the year when they are more in season and excess amounts) Asda sometimes have good offers on them as well.

Just to counter Lynz - I really dont like mango. It's an odd fruit because it is juicy but it makes your mouth feel dry. It's got a strange texture, quite thick but not crunchy or soft just heavy. I dont like mago juice or flavouring either!!

I don't think you can really decide if you're going to like it by a description. Persoanlly I think its very yummy, just a shame about the price. Why not by a salad bowl from the supermarket and put a few pieces in and fill it up with other fruit so you know for next time? Or buy one and if you don't like the texture, whizz it up with some banana and orange juice and have a smoothie instead.

Don't take this personally - but if it comes to the point where you are weighing your clothes before meetings you're taking it a little too far in my opinion. When it becomes that meticulous, it's not sustainable. Weigh in whatever you're wearing, your usual daily attire. Pay no attention to your clothing, if you're losing weight it's coming off your body and will balance out regardless of the clothes you have got on.
Wootball, thanks for your opinion - I am taking it personally because - as ever - my posts about myself are written firmly tongue in cheek. You probably haven't realised that yet (and I'm at work so i can't put smilies in to lighten the tone but imagine the green one with the big grin here)
