Had a brainwave and put ham in the pasta rather than tuna. YUM! cheesy veg and ham pasta! If i can lose wieght eating like this it is a miracle!

DizzyK i too admire your ability to eat a few squares of choc and then stop!

If you have the latest sw mag try the syn free carbonara using quaaaark.....I think (not sure) I posted the recipe a while back, I tweaked it a bit as 1st time there was not enough sauce (I basically just added fromage frais to it) but it really was delish and cheesy

sounds good. i dont have the mag but will search for your recipe. I used to make carbonara with single cream but will try quark. i tend to leave out the egg and just use bacon and mushrooms with some herbs. lovely stuff. After the success of my cheesy ham pasta today I will def be making my own quarky carbonara!

Morning Slimming worlders!! It's lovely and sunny here today but it's bound to rain later as I have a riding lesson.

Mrs M, I'm very impressed by your meal planning! I plan my evening meals but only have a rough idea what lunches will be. I have to say, I don't know how I ever managed to do my food shopping before I started planning my evening meals!!!

Tonight I'm having tea at OH's parents which no doubt will be naughty as usual!!! I'm saving nearly all my syns and WI isn't till net Wed so there's plenty of time to make up for it. My riding lesson will burn LOADS of cals too so that'll help get rid of it!!

Hope evryone has a good day.

I'm not a big fan of horses and will probably sound quite stupid I know but how does horse riding burn loads of calories? - or does the horse ride you ? lol

you're so disciplined, Dizzy. now, i'm not fussed by chocolate but cake is my downfall - any type. before SW, i was known to demolish a whole cheese cake in 1 or 2 sittings. disgusting!!! i can't even bear to have a slice as i know it's a slippery slope. (although traybake isn't included ;) ) x

you say any kind of cake - is cous cous cake still allowed - I used to love that! apple and mincemeat cous cous - yummy!

  • Hi Everyone. Im a long time lurker with a very chequered slimming world history and read the thread every day lookinng for inspiration. I noticed someone was after a carrot cake recipe (I think it was Cherub) and I saw an alternative one if the bran one didnt appeal, more syns but looks worth it if you can stop at one piece!
    4oz low fat spread
    2oz light soft brown sugar
    Zest of 1 orange
4tblsp sweetness and light brown sweetner
    1 tsp vanilla extract
    3 large eggs
    4oz self raising flour
    1/2 tsp baking powder
    2 tsp mixed spice
    3oz grated carrots

Put the spread, sugar, sweetner and orange zest in a bowl and mix. Whisk the vanilla in to the eggs then stir into the sugar mixture ( dont worry if it looks curdled).
Fold in the flour, baking powder, mixed spice and grated carrot.
Spoon into a 8 inch loose bottomed cake tin lined with baking parchment and bake for 20 minutes at 180.

    For the topping

    4oz quark
    3 tblsp sweetner
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
    icing sugar to dust

You can also top with thinly sliced pineapple if you want to increase youre 1/3rd superfree!!

Combine all topping ingredients and spread over the cooled cake.

I'll be trying this myself at the weekend so I'll report back.
