  • I am sorry I have not read all the replies but would suggest that you should give it 3 weeks of total space. Just feed her to get all the emotions calmed down and then try again. Good luck with this! They do test your patience but usually do grow out of stuff. Does the stubborness come from you?;)

I think it must do :p

To be honest, another 3 weeks of sausages seems likes hell - we've been eating what she wants and I don't think I can eat anymore sausages :o

  • It's a long thread so can you post:
    what she will happily eat??
    what she hates?
what she says when she won't eat things?

Lets see if we can identify common threads and try and come up with a proper plan.
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.

Hi angelicmary - haven't had time to read your thread properly - but just wanted to send hugs and say I'm fighting this battle with you! Our ds (our third) sounds very similar to your dd he was great until about 18 months and is nearly 3 now - no advice really other than their tummy's are very small - health visitor told me about the size of their fists...its so hard to show no concern over what they are or aren't eating! Dd was a fussy eater too (was fine and onto eating family meals cut up - but then had 4 illnesses in a row - all needing antibiotics and that was it, decided food wasn't for her...she got so much better when she went to school and saw what other children were eating - one time peer pressure worked! Our other ds would eat anything and everything so I don't think its us! Hope today's a good day.

  • Will try and read it through as well. Sometimes they just are like that and make very good stories for the grandchildren but they are very worrysome. Kids are very precious and I can understand why you worry. Has this come up in your family before?

    See below
Which is the 'best of the worst'?

    Willie Winkies

Sausage meat (from inside of sausage roll, won't eat the pastry)

    Pork Pies

Gravy (no, you read it right, she likes to eat just gravy with a spoon)

Custard (which we only managed to get her to start eating last week!)

    Yoghurt (occasionally)

My vote for 'best of the worst' is the custard!

All of the above foods were only introduced as a last resort when she refused everything we gave her so no, I didn't start her on a diet of rubbish before anyone says anything! ;)

I'm at my wits end with her, she picked off every bit of sweetcorn she had on her plate a couple of days ago and left it on her placemat. Then, she proceeded to start dropping them on the floor when she thought I wasn't looking!!

She won't try anything new but she does occasionally lick something if she likes the look of it :o

Add waffles and chicken burgers onto that now

  • Have you looked on iplayer or bbc? There were on bbc 3 quite a few episodes were a family went into a house with specialists to combat those eating issues. Cannot remember the name of the series but recall it as very good. Was a woman psychologist. Much better than crappy supernanny:)

  • Thank you all for your input but I have to bail out now, I've got alot of housework to do :(

    Will check back later though,

    Thanks again! :)

That is the name. Try those episodes. Was a brilliant programme for families whose children were anything but little angels:A

    Hi again angelicmary,
I'm back and I see you are too - don't panic!
Have you considered doing what you were doing before? ie. cook what you have decided to cook, serve it calmly as a meal at the table for the family, DON'T react if she won't eat, clear away. Repeat at all meals and don't give snacks between meals except as an "official" snack time eg. mid morning. Only give foods you are happy for her to have and try not to let the emotional temperature go up.
The trouble with toddlers is that parents end up feeling, I've tried everything.
Often that's the problem - don't try everything, just do ONE THING and do it because you've decided it's the right thing to do.
Sorry you are feeling so drained by it all. Hope you find some energy creeping back in a day or two!
    Best wishes
    MsB
