Don't worry they will settle in quickly, they say locking them in the coop for a while helps and yours are doing it themselves! They are very pretty girls. I clipped the wings on mine so they learned to open the door of the run and followed me round the garden whispering to each other - I looked up from planting my veg and there they were watching me:rotfl: You may get eggs today as they have them partly formed inside - upto 5 ready to go. Then they may not lay for a couple of days.

Went to visit Mum and called in her Mr S they had an excellent range of Asian spices and got a huge bag of bay leaves for 99p, Bolton has a large Asian community so they obviously sell more there. The Mr T in Didsbury has lots of Kosher stuff cos its a Jewish area - My Ds didnt beleive me when I said supermarkets stock different things.

Got to plant more seeds today, am going to try celery, bought some plants last year and they were hugely succeessful but never tried from seed.

They've probably got some softy southerner blood in them somewhere:D

Great pics, so pleased you convinced the RV to let you have some, look forward to chicken stories;)

Ginny, I'm growing celery too from seed this year thanks to the extra space I now have......otherwise known as my sons garden:D I can use it, he digs and does what he's told to do like a good son (even if he is 30:)) providing I share the produce.
I did grow them many many years ago when DS was little and don't remember them as being difficult, either that or its my menopausal selective memory!

The coop is big, is 5ft wide. There's tons of room in it for two, and the two of them sit at the doorway with arms folded and watch the world :D
There is actually room for the feeders in there if the weather was bad. In winter I will cover the windward side with a tarp.
The ginger cat had a wee nosy look but that was all - not a tail-twitching-hunting-cat look.

So day one with chickens - how goes it Mardatha, we are dying for an update here.

Planted lots of seeds, I have a shoebox full to choose from so decided to use some flower seeds up to, ox eye daisies for one. OH won't let me have veg in the front garden despite my pleas that Tom and Barbara did it in the Good Life:rotfl: So I thought I would put some new flowers out there. Got some plug plant geraniums from Mr T for 85p, I have geraniums every year and never pay much for them. One of last years is on my Mums landing in her warden controlled flats as its like a greenhouse and its huge despite being the size of a 2p peice when I got it. Anyway courgettes are in, celery, all kind of beans, just waiting a few weeks before I do the tomatoes. Am very pleased as everything is sprouting very well this year.:T

Just dashing in..been a hectic couple of days,my Dad keeled over at the bus stop yesterday frightened the living bejesus outta my mum
He's ok now but boy what a fright..

Today had to go heart hospital with DS2 as he's seeing the team from the Brompton there in a fortnight and they needed more tests, then dashed to the High street, came back, sprinted the dog round the fields and had to start in the garden :p

Sat in a nice, warm heap now and I'm NOT moving :rotfl:

Mar the chickens are FAB :T:T

Annie and Ginny I grew celery last year and my god it was vile *puking icon here* think I needed more watering someone has suggested to grow it in pots and keep it stood in water so it won't go bitter..couldn't get rid of the taste for days :o:o
