another 1lb loss for me this week, its in the right direction but i should be getting bigger numbers than that. Time to step it up a bit and see what can be achieved by leaving the old comfort zone me thinks.

and as for the bed-cake, well i couldnt work out what the black square was, but now you mention it i agree that it's probably a laptop.
mmm, i wonder if she's looking at :money:'s website on there?

and if shes got a laptop, then what's he got? Looks sort of like half a sandwich to me.

and is that meant to be champagne on the floor or has the cat been sick?

and before anybody asks and you probably find this hard to believe but Mr "half-sandwich-and-the-mrs-is-more-interested-in-facebook" is not modelled on me: it obviously isn't cos you can see his ribs, whilst the only ribs that are ever seen in my house are the ones ocassionally found in the oven with hot and spicy sauce :-)

Quiet on here this w/end, which hopefully means you're all enjoying the bank holiday.
Not doing anything special here, just another w/end as far as we're concerned. OH is off to the Superbikes tomorrow, and being taken by his friend who he was best man for as a thank you treat.

I did a lovely roast dinner today, and the younger boys didn't even notice that they'd got smaller portions than usual, had more veg, and meat, and less potatoes. Their treat today was to have 1 Yorkshire pud. They're weighing out their cereal portions too. Victory we also have those 'football' cereal bowls that Kelloggs gave away a few years back. Great marketing ploy to give customers bigger bowls, to use up their boxes of cereal faster. My boys aren't allowed them for cereal, after we figured that out ages ago. They have ordinary smaller bowls they can use, and have a strict limit on how many grams they're allowed. My 12 y/o had a lovely big bowl of mixed fruit for breakfast, which he thoroughly enjoyed, and wasn't nagging for food at all before lunch, and he also went out for a bike ride on his own today, cycling about 3 miles. Every little helps.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend all :D
One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

  • Hello,

Thought I would introduce myself as a "weightloss wannabe" (on a budget, of course!). I've yo-yoed with my weight for a long time, but this time I have decided to ditch the fads for good and just stick to the good old-fashioned "eat less, move more" approach. I'm 14st 11lb, and would like to lose 4 stone in total, although I don't care how long it takes me to get there. I am also in the process of trying to become debt-free, so hopefully by eating less I should be able to save money! :)

I've decided not to splash out on gym memberships, partly because I can't afford it but mainly because I have more (unused) exercise DVDs than I dare to count and also a park at the top of my road. Hopefully I can get myself into some kind of routine after the bank holiday. My mini-goal is to lose 7lb by the end of September.

Wish me luck :) Good luck to everybody else too!

Welcome to our little covern of weight loss nutters :)

I would change that from "eat less" to "eat smarter". Try to avoid energy dense foods in your diet, foods that are high in calories per 100g (fats and sugars). You can still eat a lot and rarely be hungry if you pick the right things and you can do it on a pretty tight budget as well. Its important to eat some healthy oil thou each day, fish, nuts, rapeseed oil are all good sources.

as for the moving you are totally correct you do not need expensive gym equipment or gym membership, walking, jogging, wii fit, exercise DVDs are all a good way of elevating the heart rate and burning a few extra calories. Some resistance training will help strengthen your core and upper body (you will burn more calories at rest as well :)) and help you resist muscle loss due to dieting. this can be done very cheaply with resistance tubes

its worth eating some lean protein with every meal as protein is an appetite suppressant and it also helps to stop muscle loss.

    Good Luck :j

Naughty over the weekend too. Too much beer, only about 4 on friday and 3 on sat, still too many tho. And lots of crisps, blah i should give him money every day to buy a bag of crisps for his packed lunch instead of me buying a multipack.
    4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j

Its bank holiday weekend, you're allowed to be a bit naughty! and Monday morning is a great day to start afresh :)

I get Mr Melvis multipacks of greasy crisps (he eats about 3 bags a day!) and then have some quavers/wotsits etc in the cupboard as well so if I do fancy some I don't feel so guilty :)
