Puds, the linseed bread is probably the healthiest one, but it does have high cals. I get what you mean about wanting more slices, as I think visually, you look like you're getting more. I have had the danish one, and use it for toast and sandwiches, and it's ideal being so low in cals. Maybe a wholemeal loaf is a happy medium for you, and better for you than white bread. Bread is to flipping expensive now too. Only a few years back you could get a loaf for 30p, and I saw an 'offer' today in the Co-Op to get 2 loaves for £3!! Glad I make my own. Invest in a bread machine, and make your own wholemeal, seeded, or 50/50 loaves, that I did.
Reporting in a 1.5lb loss this week. Had hoped for a bit more, but maybe not eating enough works against you? Am forcing more food down at the mo, and had a nice balanced food day today, despite being out all day. Bought a healthy meal from Boots, although was shocked to see that some of their 'Shapers' sandwiches were actually higher in calories than the basic sandwiches. Surely the calorie conscious ones should include the lowest calorie ones? Shocked also to see how many calories are in the 'healthy' looking drinks too. Over 200 cals in some, so I had a 4 cal flavoured water. You could easily end up eating over 800 cals with their meal deal, without realising it you know.
Well done on the losses guys. Lovely cake Mazza... I have one to make tomorrow for my youngest's birthday too. Can't believe my little one turns 10 tomorrow... where did my baby go??One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

2 loaves for £3 ? i think that maybe says more about the co-ops prices than it does about the cost of bread! If you make your own bread dont you just want to eat more of it? Compared to a supermarket loaf at like 70p I cant see how home made can work out cheaper tbh. A hand cut slice is going to be thicker than a machine cut slice for starters and isnt there always a big hole in the bottom of a bread machine loaf too?
Reporting in a 1.5lb loss this week....
well done :-)

yeah, and sometimes the value or smartprice brands are lower in calories than the main brands too, its always worth checking
Lovely cake Mazza... I have one to make tomorrow for my youngest's birthday too. Can't believe my little one turns 10 tomorrow... where did my baby go?? well Mazza and Sary ,you can tell your kids that puds says all the best people are born on August 5th
sparkling mineral water and soda water, are they the same thing or different?0 -
there's so many types of bread to choose from, if youre in a shop and saw these 5 loaves which would you pick??
A) 400g ww white Danish ________238cal/100g _49cal per 20.6g slice £0.64 (the lightest slice)800g wholemeal oatbran bread _200cal/100g _ 90cal per 44g slice _£0.99 (lowest cal / 100g)
C) 800g burgen soya linseed bread 274cal/100g _110cal per 40g slice _£1.32 (lowest gi)
D) 400g crusts away 50/50 loaf ___204cal/100g 45cal per 22g slice __£1.14 (lowest cal / slice)
E) 800g value wholemeal bread ___220cal/100g _80cal per 36g slice __£0.47 (best value)
up until today ive been buying the crustless loaf, its got the lowest number of cals per slice it means that i can have more slices for the same amount of cals...but didnt realise just how expensive it was compared to all the others. the danish just seems to be full of air holes. the soya linseed bread is very tasty but its also got the highest cals per 100g. not really sure what to think!
its not just about cals, its about nutritional value, better to eat 80% of something that's good for you than something low cal thats utter crap
for me it would be
C
B
then maybe E

Well done mommychaos. I honestly thought my scales were broken when I stepped on them yesterday cos I had been so naughty last week. But have really stepped up the pace at work, even finishing 1.5 hours early one day. So must be that. Got my little one to jump on the scales to check them and he's still the same :rotfl:4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0

puddings; can we broaden that to ' all the best people are born in august':D
Thanks for the chart fred:T
Sary - thanks for the family update. Difficult. I am sure there are many couples where both are the bio parents that have very diff views on dicipline etc. I don't expect the ride with your ds2 is over yet. But hopefully as each month passes he might gain msome maturity and sence of direction & purpose for his own life.
I've seen a number of young lad be the despair of their parents between 15 - 19 who have turned out well by 23+ .Got one in my family.
You ask about my meds -not doing well at the mo as an infection means I have to delay the next injection (too risky to suppress my immune system further) and I'm right poorly at the mo and arthritis + other nasties are back I'm just hoping this doesn't take up the rest of August.
Beanie - good luck with your son's results today. Hope he can go on to do what he neeeds to. And glad all went well while you were away:T
Alliwant - you are doing very well:j
And WELLDONE MUMMYCHAOS SOTWI try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
sparkling mineral water and soda water, are they the same thing or different?
Soda water, is water which is carbonated and thus made effervescent by the addition of carbon dioxide gas under pressure. Soda water gets its name from the sodium salts it contains, added as flavoring and acidity regulators often to mimic the taste of natural mineral water
Mineral water is water containing minerals or other dissolved substances that alter its taste or give it therapeutic value, generally obtained from a naturally occurring mineral spring or source. Dissolved substances in the water may include various salts and sulfur compounds. Mineral water can be sparkling (with effervescence), or still (without effervescence).
dont touch soda water on that basis ..0 -
Puddings is it your Birthday today??? Happy birthday!!
All I know about Soda versus sparkling mineral water is they both taste nasty! (soda and lime is nice tho!) If you're only counting Cals then diet fizzy drinks should be ok too, like diet lemonade.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
DS v dissapointed with results.
