Gutted to report that I have gained over the last 2 weeks, so I am going back to the drawing board - yet again:( This is despite being very active and not over-eating during my holiday. :o

Fred - can you zero me on the chart for this week please?

I started my new exercise regime this week, alternating early morning swims with early morning jogging and I'm quite enjoying the "me-time" if nothing else. The early starts dont bother me as I'm awake early anyway. Only trouble is that even though a have a healthy breakfast, lunch & dinner I am absolutle starving in-between and am scoffing all sorts - biccies, crisps, fruit, choc - you name it! :rotfl:No wonder the scales are being so cruel!!

I've dug out my pedometer, reset it and and am trying to get to 10k steps a day. Only on 5.3 so far today (including my run), was planning a walk to a cafe at lunchtime but the heavens opened at just the [STRIKE]right[/STRIKE] wrong moment :D

Welcome to the thread Kirsty - and I second everything said about your family. Ignore them and trust your own instincts. Sounds like you have a lovely supportive partner, so good luck to you :D

I want to know more about the surfing ..... come on spill the beans why were you laughing so much ??? I know what you mean about the achy arms mine normally hurt the next day after :o Glad you had a nice time down my way, and you also now know why I don't do much cycling ..... too many hills :rotfl:

Pouring rain, wet suits that were still wet from the night before (ever tried getting one of those on??), but some very cool instructors who were very patient with us complete newbies. Managed the first part of lying on top of the board and riding the wave but just couldn't get the hang of standing up, got as far one one foot then fell off every time. It happened so often that I couldn't even lie on the board any more for falling off the other side! Towards the end I got very tired and just wanted to sit on the beach and watch but the instructor kept dragging me out to see to try again! OH stood on the beach taking snaps until he got fed up being rained on a retreated to the cafe for a cuppa! :D Great fun if exhausting.

  • I am reporting my standard 2lb Loss Thanks Fred :D

I must be doing something ok at present as I am managing a constant loss YAY!!!! But after hurting my Achilles tendon in my right leg I have not done much exercise and even walking has been painful so a loss is a great relief ;)

Was that summerleaze ?sp beach you went to?? the one with the big car park behind? Yes I know the discomfort of trying to put on a still wet/damp suit but i count that as a good warm up :rotfl: I also am glad that I am not the only one who jumps on the board one side and rolls off the other laughing my head off :D Trouble is I normally have my mouth open and end up with a mouthfull of stinky/sea water _pale_
It is so much fun though I am hooked at the moment....... I can just stand but it has taken ages to get that far then I wobble and fall off but I hope to have it cracked by the time the big surf returns in September/ October

Your partner sounds very wise, and I would not listen to your family. They are not perfect I bet, and you have enough to deal with as it is. If you are happy then the next time they get at you about your weight you should simply tell them that you are happy, subject closed, discussion over.

Kirsty - Welcome to our great thread, I agree totally with what everyone has said on here. If you are happy then I think you have nothing to worry about and subject closed like Betty said. But good luck on whatever you decide to do :)

:T:T Wow! :T:T so many losses posted in the last two days: Melvis, Bex, MargaretClare, Eric, Shell, AIWITS, Mommychaos, Efrieze, Victory and Mazza... well done ! Between the ten of you there was more than one and a half stone lost this week. That's brilliant :-)
When i got into my relationship with my partner i was a dangerously ill size 4 7 stone 23 year old i had alot of health problems and i was addicted to losing weight.
I suffer from low sugar problems, epelepsy, Irrital bowel syndrome, low blood pressure and I also have alopecia.
Hi Kirsty and congratulations on leaving that size 4 Kirsty in your past! I think you should try worry less about what people say you look like and concentrate more on how you feel about yourself or how many of your other medical conditions are triggered (or not triggered) by your current weight.
I dont know if you were using the word addiction as a figure of speech or if you actually suffered from an addictive food disorder, anorexia for example? If you did then I can only imagine that things like this will be more difficult for you than most people, and can only reiterate the advice offered already that you should get a professional opinion before starting on any weight loss plan. Take care :-)

I have just placed a open case with ebay, bought a phone for OH wedding anniversary next week, paid postal order as requested
I hope it wasnt a lot that you paid and good luck Victory getting the money back via ebay but it smells awfully like youve been ripped off to me :-( I dont know if you're aware that if you sent a crossed postal order and wrote a name on it then it will have had to been paid into a bank account, in which case it is traceable (if uncrossed then treated like cash and is virtually untraceable). The last time i was conned through ebay I got in touch with the police and they basically laughed in my face, even though i had pretty good evidence, being ebay they just dont want to know :-(

Kirsty - Do what makes you happy. Family can be difficult, and they stick their noses in sometimes but at the end of the day its your life and you know how to live it.

there's so many types of bread to choose from, if youre in a shop and saw these 5 loaves which would you pick??

    A) 400g ww white Danish ________238cal/100g _49cal per 20.6g slice £0.64 (the lightest slice)
    B) 800g wholemeal oatbran bread _200cal/100g _ 90cal per 44g slice _£0.99 (lowest cal / 100g)
    C) 800g burgen soya linseed bread 274cal/100g _110cal per 40g slice _£1.32 (lowest gi)
    D) 400g crusts away 50/50 loaf ___204cal/100g 45cal per 22g slice __£1.14 (lowest cal / slice)
    E) 800g value wholemeal bread ___220cal/100g _80cal per 36g slice __£0.47 (best value)

up until today ive been buying the crustless loaf, its got the lowest number of cals per slice it means that i can have more slices for the same amount of cals...but didnt realise just how expensive it was compared to all the others. the danish just seems to be full of air holes. the soya linseed bread is very tasty but its also got the highest cals per 100g. not really sure what to think!
