Betty HM soup is the dogs....well it's the best! Not to mention very low fat, and packed with all the good stuff! I can't give u a recipe for my soup, cos if it's in the house, it goes in the pot but basically, ham/gammon/veg stock, loads of carrots, onion, swede, leeks, tatties any other root veg that's around the house will work, handful of lentils, handful of rice. All bunged into a pot and left to simmer. As i said, can't give u exact measurements cos it's different every time I make it, but the more carrot you use, the better the colour of the soup, and doesn't look like those yellow lentil soups that you get in some cafes.
Potato and leek soup sounds rather nice too, maybe a kwik recipe for it Betty?
Think that's going to be the way forward for me this year, to make lots of soup and eat that when I feel peckish!!!
That's my plan, fill up on soup to stop me snacking.
Your 'recipe' sounds great - i haven't experimented with meat much, but if i have any leftover chicken i'll prob try that next. I have bought a few different veg to try out so hopefully i'll come up with a few new recipes soon.
My soup was pretty simple, I made about enought for two big bowlfuls:
1 big leek, thinly chopped
half a red onion
bit of garlic
-- cook all the above in the pan for a bit (with a splash of water instead of oil)
add 1 roughly chopped up potato
cover with boiling water and then add
a handful of red split lentils
a bayleaf
some salt n pepper
about half a vege stock cube (i dont use much coz i dont like their taste much but i thinkyou need it if you're just using water not fresh veg stock)
--- cook for 20 mins, and then remove the bayleaf!
Then blend and eat, or if you like it chunky, fish out half of the bits of potato first, then blend the rest and add the potato back in.
simples!well it is, but kent is south, everything past brighton is the west. Thats just how it is! Everything above london gets more northern, untill you hit the midlands which is semi nothern but basically northern. I hate how they classify oxford as the south east!!!!!!! what a laugh.Betty B: The Eternal Procrastinator....
Why Put Off Until Tomorrow What You Can Do Today? :A0 -
Vix reminds me of a typical southerner. The type who don't think they have accents and then criticise ours :rotfl: Used to get a lot of that when I lived down there, so i put on my poshest voice when talking to certain people. "Did you say Whitehawk? It's not Whitehawk, it's wite awk!" So that idea didn't work:rotfl:
Will head to tesco after work today and get some veggies for some different kinds of soups. And chemist for something to make me go. Heading close to a week now, which isn't like me, usually as regular as clockwork, blah!!!! Thought the chinese would have worked, but nopes.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -

Supervisor at work today calls me a sarky witch and has never known someone as rude as me:eek: was told I had 15 hours left hols, she said only 8 took 4 so 15-4= 11, left her a note saying I was owed 11 and thanks very much signed it and she has taken the thanks as THANK YOU VERY MUCH when it wasn't it was just thanks politeness not sarcasm and rudeness and she went mad:eek: honestly should have taken it straight to the boss, kept the note, showed it to a million people and they all say it is a polite little note not a sarky one:eek: no news on my exam results so I am not off yet0

Puddings!!! I'm on your team, stop encouraging me to be naughty!!!!
Just home from work, stuck in office all day with a package that smells remarkably like weed. In a very small office it was rather potent, so home with a banging headache! Just heading to chemist now to get something to get me moving. Been eating oranges and drinking OJ all week as that normally works on the rare occasions I get like that.4 Stones and 0 pounds or 25.4kg lighter :j0 -
Apologies for the delay in posting my LOSS for the Buckfast Beauties, some really good losses this week, especially Our Puddings!! Well done, man is winning the battle over food once more.
Even though we have been cooped up on the ward this week I have managed to get in a walk out doors round the mini lake, hitting over 10K in steps twice this week and being over 9k for the rest of the week. I feel better for it and amstarting to even manage a smile whilst doing it!!
I am proud to have lost 2lb this week, so the walking must have helped.
Keep it up else Puddings is getting out the Buckfast and we won't care anyway lolYou never know how strong you are until you have no other option.0 -
Oh no mazza, I know i have an accent, when i visited matts family in coventry they thought i sounded posh. If only they knew!! ha. Snob yes, posh no.
Stictly is back!!!!! Gavin henson yes please mmmmm0 -

Thanks for the welcome, guys.
So, Fred, can you stick me on the list, if that's ok? Ta! I was 13 st 5 lb last Wednesday, and I'm hoping to lose a couple of stone(ish) in total. I'm definitely a Southerner!
Can I join in the 5lb thing too please?
Betty, your soup sounds lovely. I need to make more soup. It is really filling and stops me eating so much of everything else!!
Vix, I think I had the same geography teacher as you! I totally agree with your version of the south!! lol
So, I had a bit of a blip last night that included cheese, bread and wine. (Those three are my downfall - oh, and chocolate!) I am back on course today though, promise! I have done weightwatchers in the past, which really worked. But I became an obsessive bore, apparently, according to my husband!!! Nice! (It's true though, I was a points nutter. I was constantly hungry, and counting!)
I have the slimming world books that a friend gave me, but I find it completely and utterly confusing! I've heard good things about it though.
I think I am just going to roughly count calories, eat less, and do a bit more exercise. I do walk a lot. I'd like to join a gym, but it's dead expensive.
Hope everyones weekend is going well. :beer:Jan 2015 Grocery Challenge £185.10/£5000 -
cheapdate: its good to have you around :-) hope things work out well for you... I think sometimes, getting obsessed with the points or calories is the only way to keep the focus.
This weekend Ive hauled all 27stone of my ugly a$s 15 miles. My feet are incredibly sore, my ankles are swollen and my darling doggie is well and truely asleep and snoring.
BUT, i had an extra weigh in this morning and i *still* havent shifted the 1lb that will send me into the 26stone somethings.... grr0
