One trick that always works!
- If you still want it in a months time then you can have it, if you think it's the right thing for us to do.
More often than not, the thrill of wanting the phone will have passed and she will have a month to think of the consequences and expense.9/70lbs to lose0 -

Like you i have a phone that could be declared a war crime if you hit someone with it.
I only know the costs because my colleagues without kids all have the silly things and spend most of the day rubbing up against them - possibly i'm jealous?0 -
Would the MSE answer be that all she needs is two used cans and some string? :eek:0

Smoking is bad full stop..
She would be giving things up for you though having a baby.. she'd be giving up her body for the duration.. her work for the maternity leave time.. she can't go out whenever she wants with a baby.. that would all be for you both.
I think you seriously need to look at your priorities.. and like I said it might take more than 2 years to conceive so what difference does it make if she gets a phone now? She could always save the money now for her contract payments while she is off work.. Or pay a lump sum in advance to cover her time off.
It's disgusting IMO, but that's a whole new topic
Yes, she would be giving things up, I understand that. My partner will be able to go out whenever she wants, as I have already stated I work from home so I'll be on hand to provide the extra she needs when she's stressed/a bit down/wants to go to the gym/see her siter etc that's not a problem, she knows this.
I can't base a budget on the fact "it might take 2 years to conceive"...what if it doesn't?0 -
Cancel gym for iPhone, I doubt she will use it when pregnant?9/70lbs to lose0

She'd use the gym after the baby is born quite a lot, I don't think she'd want to cancel that.0

First everyone else has not jumped to wild conclusions - you may want to read more than just the posts you disagree with
Heh, sorry came across wrong, I meant it as it seems to be a general forum pastime
It was the post that implied the OP was acting like a child that hit a nerve!0 -
Ok here is a thought:-
Does your partner currently have a payg phone or a contract based phone?
If she is on contract what is that current contract and how much more would you be looking at with an iphone contract?
Would you be picking up that old contract (if she has a contract phone) financially if she was on SMP?
I'm trying to work out if this is a totally new outgoing or if it offset inside something else.
Edit:-
If she uses the gym 3 months before and 5 to 6 months after the baby is due / born i'd be amazed.
All my wife and i wanted to do was sleep...0 -
