    The Sunday diary...

Got up, had a leisurely chat with our host (put the world right) and set off at 11. Got picnoc stuff at yet another giant Asd@. Actually that was quite nice because I got some pasta sauces and olive oil cheaply while I was there so that's some of this week's food sorted out. I prefer not to shop on Sundays but as I was getting lunch stuff anyway...

Car no longer smoking or steaming... much. Stopped a few times, got a C0sta. :) Yes, that was nice.

We got home to a five-minute peal of thunder about 10 to 4. What the thunder was about I don't know: our arrival has never been heralded before. The house is nice and tidy thanks to DS1! There is a also a patch of new plaster in the kitchen which he assures us is fit to receive tiles.

All animals fed and healthy, garden still growing, tomato plants making up for lost time.

I had an onslaught on the car and had it all cleared and cleaned out by half past four so DH would have peace of mind after driving all that way. Then time for a quick shower before a chat with DS1 and his g/f and giving them the little things we'd brought back for them. DS1 noticed his cider had been made in a former nuclear bunker! His g/f liked the earrings and I was very amused because they turned out to be a different colour but essentially the same as the ones she had in! At least I know it's a style she likes. :)

Did the boring stuff: checked phone messages (not my favourite job but nothing alarming) and put most of the luggage away.

DS1 did pizzas for tea after which I revived a bit and even managed some piano practise. I have a lesson on Tuesday and goodness knows when I last played.

DH mended that bookshelf, so the bedroom floor is no longer strewn with books, and I noticed my lemon grass is sprouting. This is some that as being sold off at the supermarket and has been standing in water since and growing roots; I saw some growing out of doors at the Eden Project so I have hopes that this will at least grow in a pot. In fact that can be a job for today, along with the laundry (it's so nice to have a washing machine that does what I think I told it to do, unlike the one at the holiday cottage).

DH has a letter offering him an interview! And DS1 actually has an interview this morning - this for the post he tried for a few weeks ago, was unsuccessful but was encouraged to try again).

Add to that DD's A Level; results next week and DS2's GCSE results the week after... doing the laundry is not so bad. :D

Absolute downpour - did we bring the Cornish weather back with us?

DS1 has just texted to say he doesn't think he's got the job. We'll see. They said last time that he needed more experience, though my impression was that apart from that he would have been good for it, and he did a lot of preparation before this interview. Still, the position he's in at the moment gives him access to other possible jobs.

You heard it here first. :)

There was a book... don't know if you ever read it? 'Tom's Midnight Garden', but I don't think a single slug made an appearance.

Rain has stopped but I'm not daft - that washing is not just about to go out again.

I'm going to pot up that lemon grass. Interestingly 'Which' says you can grow it exactly how I just have.

DS2 wandered in waving an inhaler:

'Okay so one of my inhalers doesn't work 'cos I put it in a drink 'cos I wanted to know if it would make it fizzy, and the other one has moisturiser on it, and the other one kind of doesn't work...'

This lad is supposed to be starting Biology and Chemistry A levels in a few weeks. Do you think there's any hope? For him? For the rest of the town?
