Wetting myself about interviews...
Hair not right...brain not in gear...know that feeling?
Various cuts and bruises and it looks like it might rain and I don't have an umbrella (just a waterproof jacket)
And who knows when exactly the phone shop will phone if at all (I'm already beginning to wonder though she did say it would be today)

I hope all goes well and the rain holds off! Don't worry too much about hair, bruises etc.... the interviewers probably won't make such a big thing of it as you would yourself.
New Kenwood sounds fab! Have fun with it!
As for me - Mum has come down with at least one infection, namely a cracking cough and possibly a UTI, so I'm waiting to see what the doctor says. Hoping and praying antibiotics clear it up. I'm just a bit nervous, but thankfully not curled up and none-functioning as I might well have been a couple of years ago - proof there really is healing from stress.
I do know however that there are various things I want/need to get done and it won't help anyone if I leave them. It will have to be baby steps though - not up to facing a list.Miggy

Hi Miggy,
Well done on your ability now to deal with stress. That's such a great achievement.
Baby steps will still get you to your destination.
I'm tempted to ask for the starter of that GORGEOUS recipe of friendship cake now! Would that be cheeky jumping in on that?
I hope all is ok with your Mum and that all she needs is some rest and antibiotics. x0 -
I'll look out the recipe and post it, Muffy! In theory it requires American cups to measure, but I think a smallish glass or mug is fine so long as you use the same measure for all the ingredients. It also theoretically requires a live sourdough starter which is normally handed on by someone who has run out of kitchen space
but I think if you added 0.5 oz of live yeast to 1 cup each of flour, sugar and milk and gave it a good stir, you would have what you needed within a day or so.
It also helps to mark your starting day on the calendar because it's too easy, though not disastrous, to lose track.
Put your sourdough starter in a large mixing bowl. If using a small one, spread plastic sheeting...
Cover with a tea towel (don't exclude air or refrigerate - the mixture is alive so it won't go bad if it's fed).
Days 1,2 and 3: stir well.
Day 4 Feed with 1 cup each of plain flour, sugar and milk. Stir well.
Days 5,6,7 and 8: stir well.
Day 9: Feed and stir as before. Divide into four and give at least two away.
Day 10; take one portion ofmixture and add- 1 cup sugar
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 2 cups plain flour
- 2/3rds cup cooking oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla esssence
- 2 cooking apples cut into chunks
- 1 cup raisins
- 2 heaped tsp cinnamon
- 2 heaped tsp baking powder
Mix well and put into a large baking tin (tray bake tin works well). Sprinkle with 0.25 cup brown sugar and 0.25 cup melted butter (these are optional). Bake for 45 mins at 170 - 180C.
Eat hot or cold. Freezes well. May need foil over the top towards the end of cooking.
You can play around with the recipe, for instance I omitted all the fruit and flavourings and substituted 1 tsp mixed spice and a cup of sultanas, and I've done the same and substituted dates and walnuts or pineapple and ginger, or cherries or... or... well anyway you get the idea. It doesn't hurt to make it up as you go along!Miggy

Mum's home says no change overnight and there is a prescription for antibiotics waiting for her.
I'll head off to get them asap as I can get there before the home has anyone free to send. *Dons cape and decides against the underwear-outerwear look*.Miggy

Why would you go against age old superhero tradition? Get those tights on and pop some bloomers over the top and you can be Wonder Daughter!:p0

Only if you are committed to the weekly bake. It's well worth it.
I wonder if you can add ginger for variation?Debt free - Is it a state of mind? a state of the Universe? or a state of the bank account?

Clothes shop interview went fair to middling. Have emailed you miggy. Phone shop is doing my head in and I haven't even got a job there yet!!!!.....
Supposed (according to research) to email before today with details of something to prepare for phone interview. No email. No phone call by 12.50pm so phoned them. Said they'd phone back in 1-2 hours. Got inpatient. Phoned at 2.25pm. Said the girl who was handling my application was not in today and to phone back tomorrow at 10am. Will phone back tomorrow (on the dot!!!) but only for closure.
The clothes shop is massive - way bigger than I thought and looks really fab and the staff are really nice. Also I get good perks as well even though it's just minimum wage but still. Don't know if I get out of decent time allowance for working late on a Thursday. Didn't get chance to ask
