Don't worry, one day you will have a ginger syrup production line going:

    About 12 fl oz water
    about 8oz sugar
    2 tsp ground ginger
    1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp vanilla essence

Exact quantities aren't too important - go with what tastes good.

Mix all ingredients in a medium sized pan; warm through, stirring a bit, till sugar dissolves then bring to the boil.

Reduce heat and simmer, (no lid) for 20 minutes (or, as I just typed, minuets).

    Allow to cool.

Use a slug of this in coffee or hot water (or possibly over ice cream?).

Will keep in a jam jar in the fridge for a few weeks.

Nope....LOL I'm sure you couldn't spend as much £ as I have in the last 10 days miggy LOL

Yeah knee improving :)...off cycling this evening to the FP's...getting routine sorted though not eating (though am still eating of course)....

But I could tell even from the B Kirk this am how much my knee had improved. Last week - constant shuffling in the pew with pain despite painkillers and a strap on it...this week - fine...:)

Anyhow lucky you finding £20 in your pocket :)...tv was fab last night - th e voice, and BGT and half price ben and jerry's and a packet of crisps :)...fab night....

So yeah - splint is off though I have it in my bathroom if I need it. My aim is to cycle to the fracture clinic on the 21st (actually I thought it was the 14th which is like tomorrow surely? Actually - nope...14th is next week :)m.....BK EGM re building fund on the 15th LOL)...hmmm...better get practising...

Also managed to get some knee dislocation recovery exercises off livestrong.com which am doing (3-4 times a day) so yeah - positives there....

    Hugs

Mmm, like the sound of that. Only trouble is, i don't have any scales. Have a pan, but no hob. Will try substituting guessing or a measuring jug and microwave?

That is, of course, when i have all the ingredients. I have the water and the sugar :p

Erme, that's fantastic progress! So pleased you are back in circulation. :) Well done on all the exercise.

Ani, don't worry about scales, the original was in American cups which are about the size of a tea cup - and I see you as a tea cup user. (Not a mug man). Try 1.5 tea cups of water and 1 of sugar... of course the spices would enhance it somewhat, but who's worrying about a little thing like that? :D

Yay to finding the £20 you thought you'd lost! The relief you must have felt. Hopefully your daughter is better now too? x

Yes thanks Muffy - she's spent the weekend visiting her bf's relatives and turned up on the doorstep at 7.30 this morning obviously having been for a run! Was gone again by the time I got up.

Ani, looking at the two sets of measures I've given you, I think I had best measure it out in Amercan cups then see how much that is in English - between online equivalents and my measuring by eye, somethings gone strange. (Will have to be done later though, sorry).

We are off to have a look at Mum's house today and see how the building work is going. That sounds daunting to me - knowing zilch about building, but I'm better looking than not looking. Also will have DH's viewpoint.

    Thanks miggy....

I have finally realised the culprit on the knee...0- 10 miles first day I got it (half uphill)......maybe 0-2 would have been okay. Not 0-10...

So last night I went to the FP's and enjoyed it (though got an unexpected surprise after getting there 30 mins early I discovered an impromptu prayer meeting straight after the service. Queue another 30 mins and it's getting dark and I don't have my lights on me ).

So yeah..this is me slowly getting back to the FP's (as knee allows).....

Found my squidgy bit for my splint today as well. Inside the TV box LOL.

Reducing coffee (tea more) so I have a huge headache but still. Am sleeping better....

Feeling heaps better though don't think I'll watch BGT every night this week (though very happy Only Boys Aloud and Ashleigh and Pudsey got through)

Inside the TV box? Sounds logical to me... :D (Says she who never knows where she's out things).

I get creeping coffee-increasitis as well. I think I've only had two or three cups. Who am I kidding? When I started to write it down it was more like six. Hence I wasn't sleeping too well either.

Today's little adventure actually worked out pretty well. We started off with a trip to the Bank Holiday car boot sale, where I bought three plants, then on to Mum's old house. The building work isn't completed but is progressing nicely. To my surprise the damaged window is repaired not replaced, which will reduce the cost and disruption.

I decided to empty and shut down the freezer: the stuff in there was ancient. Then I discovered the thermostat had broken, possibly some weeks ago! Urgh. Anyway, it's now very definitely emptied and unplugged!

It's supposed to get warmer again tomorrow - roll on the nice weather!

We did the journey in good time and had an hour's walk this evening which kind of makes up for a sedentary day.
