What a fab day it's been. I spent the afternoon running round the shops (spent £5 on a top) while looking for something to wear this evening. I suddenly remembered I already had the perfect thing so I finished the rest of the shopping, getting rained on rather a lot in the process, dashed home, made the birthday cake, buttercream and fudge icing, and hared up the ladder to the loft to find what I wanted to wear!
One of the big advantages of getting older is that I can get ready for an evening out in about 20 minutes.
The trip to the loft was about 35 minutes before we were due at the restaurant, and I was ready to go out in time!
I think we were the noisy lot tonight but a fellow diner kindly took group photos of us and we took them of each other - I've no idea how many we ended up with! Eventually we actually had our meal... just the one course because we had the birthday cake to come.
Back home I finished putting the cake together (it was cooled down by this time too) so we ate cake and strawberries and reminisced about childhood TV for an hour or so before various people flaked out and the party was over (DS2 and I just getting going, but we're the owls in a family of larks).
I also had a couple of phone calls from work while all this was going on, the upshot of which is I have a sleep in shift to cover tomorrow as someone's had an accident and can't do it. That's so nice (not the accident) - nothing scheduled tomorrow apart from seeing Mum, it will probably be a quiet shift and I get paid £25 for the sleeping bit of it! What's more I should be finished in time for Church. I'm back in 11 hours later for the waking night so I guess that means I had better get some sleep soon because I'll need it by then.
ETA - the younger contingent are doing their serious partying tomorrow. Residents of York be warned!Miggy

Hello Miggy,
Sounds like the party was a great hit. Well done. You have made me want cake now too! Fortunately I have none in.
I hope your shift was nice and quiet for you and that your Mum was doing well. Have a lovely week x0 -
Not sure what happened to the weekend? Oh yes, I was at work!
I was asked to cover for a sick colleague (sleep-in shift from Saturday afternoon to mid-morning on Sunday) and while I was there someone else called in sick for Sunday evening, so I added that to my waking night last night. In between I popped home for a few hours.
DS's partying seems to have gone well - interesting that DD didn't go though she was invited. I thought she wasn't one to miss a party?Miggy

Today I'm getting absolutely nothing done because I know I ought to visit Mum and that will take the rest of the afternoon... There's no one thing I'm particularly trying to avoid but sometimes there are things to deal with as a result of her condition: she forgets something has happened perhaps or gets something mixed up. Most of the time this isn't evident but when it is it's a reminder that things aren't entirely right.
I also ought to be getting some exercise but that's defeating me.
I'm off most of the week apart from Wednesday so here's a list of the things I want to get done to spur me on:
[STRIKE]
put SF in her run[/STRIKE]
do some weeding in the garden
check online banking
[STRIKE]pay cash into bank[/STRIKE]
clean out SF
clean out fish
start online course for work (Equality & Diversity)
do some more NVQ work

Made a start on the list and have also tidied a shelf in the larder and made a batch of Naan bread which disappeared in short order apart from the last piece which people are being too polite to eat or something.
Visit to Mum wasn't too bad except I got stuck between Mum who kept trying to lend me magazines and another resident who was standing in the doorway commenting on the flowers. For a moment it felt a bit claustrophobic! I'm hoping that doesn't get to me next time I'm visiting.
DH isn't well - he has a chronic condition and the stress of waiting to know about his job has triggered it. The doctor's given him supplementary medication so we'll see how that goes.
I'm tired and short of Vitamin C which means I'm a bit down so I will try to get to bed soon and buy more vitamins tomorrow.Miggy

Am pleased to report a general improvement in the health of the Migs household.
Vitamins doing their job and DH's meds ditto, plus some professional advice from a friend who knows about such things for her job, though DH will be making radical lifestyle changes if he follows all her advice.
It's one of these things where you have to go against received wisdom for a while... ah well. We'll see, he may not need to do much more as the meds are counterbalancing the condition for now.
DH's day off today which has been nice - we did some exercise thus (hopefully) getting me back on track for my fitness plan. Rain still pouring down and the garden is now so green I need sunglasses to tone it down, so exercise has to be planned, we can't just walk. Swim, maybe. Walk, no.
We have finally fitted spotlights on the landing, which has been unlit for the last few weeks. Brilliant! In both senses of the word. Now I want modern lighting all over the place.
I went a bit mad planting tomato seeds - 108 of them! However, seventy-something of those are from a big packet I bought some years ago and they may all be beyond germinating. Also about a dozen each of three other varieties, and a little pot of basil to go with them.
I have ridiculous amounts of seeds to use up, may list later if I can cope with typing on a laptop. The PC has thrown a wobbly and gone for inspection.
