Anyhow more spendies ..this time on discounted but posh bakeware that only just fits in my oven....(cos it's 50cm rather than 60cm wide)....
    ...
And I have to go upto the clinic at the hospital at some point cos even though it's worse than it was two weeks ago it's not infected :(

Lucky you - KC and posh baking stuff within days of each other! Now if you just position your cooker under a dodgy cupboard like we did you may be able to get an insurance payout to give you a ginormous oven... but I wouldn't recommend it. ;)

Hope you're feeling better, did they do you an xray?

We did - two days in London which is my idea of going home. :) I lived there for ages and even now it just has that feeling of 'rightness'... but I certainly couldn't afford a London lifestyle!

We saw Les Miserables and Lion King, mooched round Art galleries to our hearts' content (we like that sort of thing ;) ), ate out all the time though actually not at scary costs, walked everywhere and accidentally ended up in the second row of people squashed behind the barriers at Buckingham Palace when the Queen came out and unveiled a plaque just in front of us! ('Mr and Mrs Miggy were here...').

So a very good time was had by all though I've now gone into a reactive slump. Don't worry about that, though, I'll get over it. :D

Grrr... just after we decide to go onto SVR, what does the Halifax decide to do but put it up!

We won't be affected as much as some as our mortgage is getting smaller, but still...!

Haha - no, I wouldn't seriously recommend it to anyone. :D We still have a gap where the offending cupboard used to be, too.

Love carrots in soup... nom nom nom!

Well today we've made another mortgage appointment. Couldn't get one earlier than the end of the week so I may do some on-line research to try to find the best deal. I'm also in discussions with DH about paying off as much as we can in the meantime - might as well save in the longer term, but we don't know what savings will be needed in the next few months or longer.

DH has heard from work - not so many jobs are being cut as seemed likely in his particular workplace but he and his colleagues will still be in competition with others from the workplaces that are closing. Still a few weeks to go...

In the meantime I have a few things to do at home. Seven to breakfast tomorrow so I need to tidy the dining room, having spread papers of Mum's all over the place! I also need to sort through and repack a box DH found in the shed, which I said I'd do tonight.

Confession time: bought DH a couple of new shirts and a skirt and top for myself, total £22.50. Really and truly that's not too bad, is it? DH needs some shirts that aren't on their last er... arms, and I need to stop living in jeans. Still feel I have to justify it to myself though.

Food money went crazy this week: going away meant we left £30 for the kids to buy food and so far we haven't had any change from them! We also spent on eating out (though not madly) and since getting back we allowed ourselves £30 but have gone over that by about £25. :( Really not good.

I've also bought hair conditioner - nearly £4 which is preposterous but the cheaper one we already have makes my hair like straw - and shaving gel for DH. Amazingly the bank balance isn't too bad but considering it has just over three weeks before either of us gets paid again, I need to be prudent.

Off to sort out the box now... telling myself it won't take long...

Box now sorted... found ancient press cuttings some of which I've thrown out because I've no idea what they were wanted for. I've kept quite a few though - from my secondary school years. I've just been searching the internet for any trace of a very tragic story from the late 1970s in which a boy I knew was killed in a fire. There's nothing. Unless you were far enough distant to warrant an appearance in genealogical sites, ordinary people pre-internet just don't show up.

The cuttings I've kept have been put to one side - I think I'll scrap book them, hopefully reducing them further in the process.

I haven't cleared the other papers up - I think most of those will just have to be bundled away for now.

Tired... oh, it's a quarter past eleven and I still have to tidy the papers, see to Small Furry and get the last load out of the washing machine before having a bath and getting to bed. Better get a move on!

Didn't get the coffee grinder. Paid over the odds for the slicer. Hope I get the juicer and the small chopper thing..then the magimix is getting sold (if I get the chopper) and possibly the juicer...

Any idea how much I can get for a magimix le mini plus on ebay? (without blendermix)....Paid about 100 18 months ago. Still in GWO with a repair or two (by me- had to glue the control panel back on)...with all the attachments it came with (blade, slicer, whisk, mini chopper)

    Hello Miggy,
Just caught up with your diary and your days in London sound great. I think the Queen was looking out of her window waiting for your arrival then rushed downstairs to get out to see you both! I have this little vision now of her running down the stairs and then composing herself at the door!!!!

I completely get the overspend. But maybe it's good as it shows you a spendy trigger? I'm exactly the same and know that if I don't organise what I can and can't buy then I'll go on a frenzy. This control I currently have still feels quite superficial and delicate and although I feel that any blow out will either be minimal or will bring me to my senses early enough to take things back I still feel remarkably close to the back of the wagon to fall off! I sound like a spendy addict!

Hello everyone, my name is Muffin and I'm a compulsive spender.

Oh, also £22.50 for what you bought sounds great. Isn't that what this is all about? Controlled spending rather than not having anything!

How did your big breakfast go? Was the Queen there?

Good luck with your mortgage chat too. My stomach lurched when I saw that raise on the home page too, although it doesn't affect me at the moment.
