Well done for keeping the peace Erme! And I hope you're feeling better now.
Mostly a really good day here - everyone very mellow, loads of nice presents and generally relaxing and fun. The down side was a phone call from Mum's former neighbours, to say Mum's cat, which they were looking after for her, was found dead today. He was just curled up in his basket, having been off his food for a few days. We will be over there on Tuesday so it will be my job to give him a funeral and let Mum know.
That's the sad side of it but in the longer term it's one less worry: there was always the possibility of him getting sick and there were always arrangements to be made when his carers were away. I will miss him though - he really was a gorgeous creature.
Aside from that I'm very tired - about five hours' sleep last night didn't help and I think I'm low on vitamins. We will also be away a few days this coming week which makes me worried as Small Furry is also under the weather and if she needs the vet it means a few days until I can get her there.
I'll see if the surgery is open tomorrow, though that's not likely. If it isn't, I'll ask if a vet nurse I know will keep an eye on SF or maybe give me some advice.
I really need to shut up shop for now and get some rest - that will make things feel a lot better!Miggy

You know what was really cool Miggy....I went to see an old friend on Thursday whom I hadn't seen for like 20 years (maybe longer) and like she said DBS had always been 'snooty' so like one less thing for me to get up tight about which really helps. Now I'm more relaxed everyone else is.....
Think that nic OD was part nic/part gastritis. Don't think it would have been anywhere near as bad if I'd still been on my stomach pills....
Anyhow now to figure out how to get 3 plum loaves home and a year's worth of shampoo and soap LOL

There you are then - it's not just you.
Crocheted wrist warmers sound so cute. I can just about crochet a chain (!) so I shalln't be attempting to do them this weekbut the little bottle hats I've been knitting went down a storm in the Christmas stockings. DD lined them all up and took a photo (Christmas pud, snowman and Santa hat) and DS1 stood his on the headboard of his bed later, so I feel pleased.
I have one in the making which needs to be sewn up then I'd better out the wool away and find the cardi pattern I have been thinking about trying.
I treated myself to a snuggly knitted headband just before Christmas which cost £4 and I can't help thinking I could have done it more cheaply myself. No scarf knitting for myself this year though as I had a nice one in my Secret Santa to add to the collection I already have.
Still feeling tempted by crocheted wrist warmers... might be a project for stocking fillers for next year of course.
By the way Erme - if you spend your journey eating plum loaf (sounds nice) then there will be less to carry at the home end...Miggy

I came up with 81%...
Just plugged Ma's hifi in...dread to think what sort of stress teaching her how to work linux is going to be if she gets stressed out about just putting a hifi (old) together....
....
Expect squeals.....and lots of questions....
And have pulled a load of muscles in my back and then Ma expects me to near enough crawl under the sideboard just to put a plug in.
Miggy sorry to upset thee but like I don't know if I shall get the plum loaves...skint (only have about £10 left till Friday) as like bought tights (cos mine were too small and falling down), undies and a new suitcase cos with a pulled back there's like no way I'm lugging that old antler affair anywhere.....(the suitcase was in the Mr Ar Sale but still)..
So yeah..holiday monies well and truly spent....:(
E
PS. Ma's panic over the hifi has really stressed me out. Not least with what she expected me to do in terms of acrobatics. Sure I will calm down but still. Why do I bother trying to save her money? when she just panics all the time :dance:

You bother trying to save her money because you're a nice, helpful person.
Will let you off buying the plum loaves because I can't bear to think of you with cold legs due to tights falling down - never mind sparing your blushes. And the suitcase is an investment isn't it - it will last you ages.
Sounds as though you will need to send your Mum out of the room whenever you're fixing the hifi though... or tell her they are very sensitive and have to be repaired in absolute silence.Okay not true but tempting.
:o:o
81% is almost twice what Martin got - wow! I bet your can get six cups of tea out of one bag and then recycle it to insulate the loft or something.Miggy

I came to the conclusion at some unearthly hour of the night that I would be best telling Mum about her cat today rather than waiting till we get back - and I was right. She has taken it well and it gave her the chance to say where she wanted him buried (though her first choice was 'his favourite place by the greenhouse' which didn't ring true as the cat has been an indoor pet as long as she had him and the greenhouse isn't near the house). I said he liked looking out at the birds in the garden so I thought a good place might be opposite the kitchen window and she's happy with that.
We went to see the Boxing Day Meet this morning, running part of the way as we were late, but I couldn't keep it up. Not wheezy but short of lung capacity which in conjunction with a sore throat makes me suspect I'm fighting a cold. Darn. Splashed out £1.46 on antibacterial lozenges which beats £4-something for the leading brand.
Turkey for dinner - now there's a surprise!
I have sorted out a few papers in an attempt not to let the clutter win... not going to be a quick accomplishment though. I will try to file a few more before bed and maybe even chuck out some more. I want my house back!
Small Furry was looking okay this morning and it was dark when I got home so I haven't seen her since, but if I can catch her tonight I'll check how she seems. Still eating enthusiastically which is a good sign, talking of which my diet has been mostly good but sabotaged with seasonal treats today. If I go on like this I won't get to the finishing line in Mr B's two stone / two grand / four months challenge.
An early night would be good. Zzzzzz...Miggy

Ohh so sorry to hear about your mums cat miggy! Thats so sad
I'm glad your mum has taken it well at the very least!
Watch yourself when running with a cold! When i run with the cold (which i currently have) i always end up a chest infection, takes 3 times longer to clear so i've steered clear of it the past week! x0 -
Thanks Bad Weather.
Yes, we will miss the cat, he was gorgeous and brighter than most. He used to alert Mum if there was someone at the door (she's deaf) and when she was very sick he stayed by her all night. He was a rescue so I'm guessing he was older than I thought.
I'll take your warning about running with a cold as I think my body's telling me I'm being stupid staying up late as it is. Better to wait a few days and be able to run more or less properly!
Hope your cold's gone soon.Miggy

Nope....I just get the bargains...and am frugal (remember my frugal pressies this year
. It's just a question of getting a year's worth of shampoo and soap home LOL)
Apparently she wasn't stressed....just amazed I got it done so quick :rotfl:....She wasn't stressed but I was.....

Anyhow SC (snotty cow) drank most of the milk last night...you gotta love or loathe her...Yesterday she made a smart remark about coughing when I hadn't had my e-cig for ages and I'm like 'no need for that' and all she replied was 'just because you can't help you're coughing I can't help my reaction' with a smirk...
So not going out for coffee with Ma and Helen this am...We're off to skeggy tomorrow so I have to save my pennies for the ebay bargains
Anyhow tis all my news...wonderful if I'm about to puke all over this keyboard :T
