Loving the hot choc with friends! BIG TICK!!! Still trying to convince my OH to bring that DAM coffee machine through!!!
Also laughed at your £3 mayo spend - my goodness you should have seen me before I'd have spent that every week!
Loving the pics of bags aswellBeen creeping on the pics! I've also though about those bag organisers but they are a *want* item right now and i've had more than my years share of they kind of items so that will just need to wait! x
Coffee machines are Very Important - can you do him a spreadsheet about how much money it will save?! Alternatively find things that will take the same amount of space and ask if you can store them in the place where the machine was if he'll bring it over.Miggy got my no. 4 star after 2,000 posts

A cold, bright day and going dark already.
I have couple of New Year's Resolutions in mind - please don't tell me off for getting there already! If I don't write them down now (and they always start falling thick and fast about now), then I'll have forgotten on New Year's Eve (though as I'm working them I'll have most of the night to dream up some less meaningful ones).
In no particular order:- learn to drive
- get up to about Grade 6 piano (am doing Grade 2 sight reading, about Grade 4 or 5 music and Grade 8 scales).
- get further through reading the Bible (I now know Genesis fairly well, LOL). (My record is somewhere in Kings. I overface myself and try to do 3-4 chapters a day which is about what it takes to get there in a year but I can't keep it up).

There's quite a good reading scheme on Trinitarian Bible society (won't be on there today. Site will be down for Sabbath) that I use...
It's only 2 chapters a day - one in the am and one in the evening or both at once :j (like I do)..
Does the NT once a year and the OT once every 2 years and the psalms once a year...
Otherwise download e-sword or macsword for a free commentaries for your PC in case you get stuck
I have macsword
Hope that helps Miggy...
Re. the TBS scheme -it's actually called R. Murray McCheyne's scheme elsewhere online but takes you through the whole bible in year but I can't do that so I prefer the TBS version. I think you can buy it for like 60p or something? If you want me to send you a copy just PM me your snail addy...But know you can download it and print it off for free
Hope that helps hun
E
PS. I tried the 3-4 chapters a day and it ended in tears. Much happier with the TBS scheme- and they do bibles and other goodies too quite cheap
. Quality rather than quantity hun. Even if it's just 2 verses from the psalms a day and meditation and prayer. Would be happier to hear you've read 2 verses from the psalms every day since January in June than you've gotten as far as Ezekiel and can barely remember any of it ...hugs

I will look into those Erme, thank you.
Two chapters a day is easier than three though I might bend it a bit and do 2 OT a day for a while followed by 2 NT because I find the continuity easier.
Not just me that couldn't manage three a day then!Actually it depends what you're reading, doesn't it? Some is a lot easier than others. I really get into Genesis because I love history and this is as close as I'm going to get to the voices of the Iron /Bronze ages. Then the books of the Law are interesting but much harder going, then it gets gory... would be easier for me if it started with Psalms!
Thanks for the commentary ideas, I hadn't come across them before. I can get some commentaries through biblegateway.com which is very useful.
Anyhow, this is quick as we're newly back from a carol service (and being part of an attempt to have the most people singing Christmas carols for fifteen minutes at once. The record is about 14,000 - wonder if we broke it?!) and I'm due at work at nine... then lots of glorious days off till New Year!Miggy

Hello Miggy love.
I would definitely have a crack at the driving. I passed (finally) at the age of 31, still cannot park for love nor money, but l so appreciate not being reliant on others for lifts. Top tip from me would be that if you have trouble with gears/clutch etc, try an automatic, much easier to drive (tho you will have to drive one after you get your license ) you will still have the freedom etc xx'Forget injuries, never forget kindnesses' - Confucious0 -
Thanks Northern Lassy - I have a feeling I may be very glad of all encouragement when I get behind the wheel!
I had lessons a long time ago but a massive change in circumstances meant I had to stop for a while and the 'while' has stretched into years. I tried a drive or several round a deserted industrial estate last year (private roads I hope!) and realised I have a lot of re-learning to do, though the car we had was a treat to drive (power steering). We've now down-sized the car which saves a fair ol' amount in fuel and tax but I haven't tried it so I don't know how I'll find it to drive. Actually getting on the road is a big hurdle - I can handle the car better than the traffic!
Anyway that's all in the future. I am officially behind on Christmas and was going to report an NSD until it occurred to me that I've finally ordered Dh's pressie! the website reckons it'll still get here on time, weather permitting, and the forecast says there may be a relative heatwave (12C) on the way. Took me long enough to get round to ordering as I was asleep till nearly 3 then spent ages writing editorial notes for DD's art essay. Her writing is lively and interesting but needs an editor so I throw in the suggestions and she can take what she pleases.
I have sent my work Christmas cards and written a whole six others, three of which have been delivered. To motivate myself I decided to go through my who-to-send-cards-to list and depressed myself because there are so many lovely people we've lost touch with and some who are no longer with us.The re-written list has 42 in place of 102. That's so sad though they aren't all lost - I took the Church ones off because we all sign a massive card and put some money towards a good cause instead of sending individually.
It's usually a good time of year for keeping in touch but I look at some of the names and realise I haven't heard from them or thought of them for ages... too much water under the bridge? We've had a horrendous last few years and I feel as if I'm emerging and looking round to find the parameters have changed.
Well, I am going to make a positive step forward and find a few photos to add to our Christmas letter, so we can entertain the people we managed to hold on to!Miggy

Photos found - of course that makes a massive attachment to emailed letters though so I might end up editing some out - there are only six to begin with.
£10 spent so far today (piano lesson) and for all that I've been playing carols all week I didn't do so well today: it seems difficult to play carols without getting clunky all of a sudden, but then my teacher's piano has a very different tone from mine. I suspect it's a better piano and is very sweet and soft whereas mine is more-or-less bell-like on the higher notes and that works well for carols even if there is one note that reminds me frequently of fresh lemon juice! (Middle C is more like bubblegum flavour, even if it probably doesn't taste like anything).
I read something once about people who actually experience musical notes as colours or tastes and I wouldn't make that claim for myself but there's a definite likeness. Strange or what?!
Anyhow, I digress.
Lots of things I ought to be doing today so I will have a mess around with a list which readers may ignore.- [STRIKE]sort newspapers for recycling[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Wash woolly jumper[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]get together some magazines for Mum[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]put the pictures for Mum's scrapbook into my bag to take with me[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Write cards for Mum and staff where she lives[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Write address labels for Mum's cards[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Put name label in her new nighty and take up hem.[/STRIKE]
- Have another look at lists of presents and see what still needs to be done
- Plan dinner and shop for ingredients - Done by DH
- shop for work Secret Santa
- wrap Secret Santa
- deliver Secret Santa
- now that I have a working battery in the kitchen scales again, finish mixing the fruit for the Christmas cake!!! :rotfl:(Could cook it tomorrow?)
That's more than enough for now so I'd better get my skates on!Miggy

I've managed to cross a few items off the above list but not as much as I'd hoped. I always knew organising Mum's cards would be difficult - you can't just set up a production line as she gets so side tracked. Got two done and out of there! LOL.
Spent just under a fiver on pet food.
No progress on the rest but a few magazines and one of two nighties out of here which makes it slightly easier to breathe. Also took a biggest bag of decorations so her room is glittery and we have more space in our hall.

my mum learnt to drive when she was well into her 50's. we did have to have a 'chat' with her as my dad was going blind and it would have seriously impacted on both their lives if she hadn't bitten the bullet, especially as at the time they lived a good 3 1/2hrs drive from my sister, her family and myself.
i think i may investigate some of the information available about reading the bible in a year, i know my mum did that a while back. she was very religious until there was a change of vicar at our family church and he was trying to get rid of all the 'old crew' and as my dad was one of the church wardens the stress that he put him under almost killed him (and i'm not kidding the man was pure evil!) i wonder if i can find the things you're talking about on my kindle.
i think one of my other resolutions is that i'm going to start getting formal piano lessons once we're in the new house and make sure i can get to the piano to actually be able to practice - i'm really looking forward to that.0
