I've since discovered that a certain cheap conditioner isn't nearly as good as my usual one!

It doesn't seem so long since that discussion but it was a world ago. :(

Maty, have you tried one of those handbag organisers? I just wondered what they're like to use and how robust they are? I am forever losing things in the depths... :D

Busy day today so I'm just keeping track of spending.

    Piano lesson £10
Hot choc out with friends £2.75
    Cards/presents £6 + £16.45 + £2.60
    Food shopping £4.29 + £4.89 + £1.29
Drinking glasses (ours have depleted recently) £3.15

I noticed Lakeland have packets of ice cream mix at half price (£2.99) so I hastily got a couple for stocking fillers. It's traditional for me to include some sort of make-your-own edible. I've also sorted out a 'little something' for the children's OHs' parents, it would be easy to forget because they're new onto the list so I'm pleased they'll have something to show they're on the map, so to speak.

Christmas cards include the ones for work so I can take those in tomorrow (my next shift) and breathe a sigh of relief, but not too much of one as I've not sorted out a Secret Santa yet!

Well, the weather has been alternately vile and quite sunny and I'm off to visit Mum soon so I will have to time it well. There's now a bolognese sauce in the slow cooker so at least dinner's under way.

I got tea from the chinese supermarket and chop sticks for my PS to use as hair sticks. Total cost for 2x green tea (20 bags), 1 x Puerrh tea (20 bags), 1 pair of chopsticks, 1 tin of Jasmine Tea, 1 of Gunpowder (just a box) and I think a tin of something strange (can't recall) was £5.02....

So now money is tight - £8 for the week left

Now for cheap tea and it's blowing a gale and raining cats and GP's (guinea pigs). And the block is rocking but fortunately it's not scaring me as much as it did last week :)

Our house isn't rocking but it's found some interesting draughts... two year old front door is one of the main ones. Now, that shouldn't be happening, should it?

Bought Mum some stuff from her money, but I haven't spent any more from ours - yet! DH and I have just been through my lists and faced up to not knowing what to get the kids as main presents! There is a jacket that DS1 wants but the others are more difficult, DD because she buys expensive clothes for herself and we can't equal those, so it will have to be something else. DS2 is as unsure as we are about what he wants!

DH and I are weary today and could do with a rest - I just felt like bickering for the sake of it. :( However we've now had a bit of a rest and are ready to head in again.

I've had a wee lie in after a bad night's sleep and like waking at 6...Pray I can wake up on time (and stay awake) next Wednesday...I have a train at 9.50 and a 9 (I think...could be ten) hour journey ahead of me...

Also pray there's interwebby (free) on the train :D

You woke up just before I did Erme! My lie in was because I'm working tonight.

10 hour train journey - you will certainly need either internet or a good book, and possibly both. I love train travel and am very good at enjoying the view but even I would need something to keep me busy some of the time.

I'm wondering what to do today... if I go Christmas shopping I mustn't wear myself out. However I have a parcel coming so am not going anywhere just yet, and I also have a few remaining Internet purchases that really MUST get done. Just can't see how the shopping trip is going to get done unless everything else falls into place with unprecedented speed.

This evening is DD's Drama performance (doing A Level Performing Arts) so I'm going there with a work bag all packed and shoved under my seat so if they are still acting at 8.45 I can make a stealthy exit. DD thinks she will be on about an hour before this so I should be okay.

Well, having talked it through with myself things are clarifying. I am ditching the idea of going out on a big shop unless the parcel arrives really soon and I can get a couple of Internet purchases through in record time. I did two for Mum last night which is a weight off my shoulders.

    This morning:
    • Stop sitting round in PJs, put the kettle on again, grab a shower and face put washing on the line (I can hear it's nearly ready).
    • Order bulbs for Mum's friends (last day for this is Saturday).
    • Order tee shirt for B-in-L - ha! If I can find the right card as the website doesn't accept the usual one...
    • Order calendar for international delivery - will be late but at least they have all next year to use it. :D
    • Put Small Furry out in the garden (she is indoors due to weather last night).
    • Wrap other gifts for that family - again I have missed the last posting date :o but am waiting for the parcel that's due today to finish the package, then I have to dig out a Customs label and get myself down to the Post Office...

Now I won't get all that done this morning, but at least it's a plan.

    Later:
    • Sort dinner
    • Mix Christmas Cake - I know - late! But I discovered when I put fruit to soak that I hadn't got enough sultanas...
    • Pack work stuff and include something constructive to do... if DD's laptop comes back from the menders, maybe I could borrow it? :D
    • Any more Internet shopping to do? :(
    Much later:
    • DD's play
    • Work.

First update and as it's still wet and chilly, plans have been changed to fit in.
I have remembered I need to add in a check of the bank statement.
Not one but TWO parcels I was waiting for have just arrived so a quick bit of sorting and wrapping is now going to happen instead of other things while the family is out of the way.

We're still eating out of the fridge and freezer but that's good - saves money and trips into town! I'm also hoping it might create a little bit of freezer space but there is no evidence this has ever happened for more than a few milliseconds so I'm not holding my breath. ;)

Payday tomorrow! Early because of Christmas. I had one of those  moments when I checked the bank balance after my payslip arrived and before I realised the payslip had arrived before the money. It looked as though we had gone into OD and the pay had bumped it back into the black, which would have meant a lot more had gone out than I thought.:eek:

However... :money: the balance was without pay! So tomorrow (assuming all is well financially with my employer and judging from the mail they keep sending out they are making strenuous efforts in this direction) we should be in an unheard-of position pre-Christmas - still in credit! I am plotting a mortgage overpayment - second one ever!

    Happy dance. :j:j:j

Have to add I managed quite a few extra hours last month so this month's pay isn't representative.
