DH and DD both have to wear uniform for work - going to try to persuade them to claim!
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/uniform-tax-rebate#eligible (It could go in the replacement of white goods fund due to wear and tear, LOL -or more likely in the general account).

I mentioned the uniform thing to DD but she no longer pays tax (she did but they refunded it as she doesn't earn enough)... so now I have to persuade DH.

I think the main obstacle will be getting down to it. ;)

Just ordered my niece's gift (through Quidco) but spent half the morning trying to choose a carpet washer for Mum! The one she suggested doesn't have very good reviews. I need to check on the alternative via the library's access to Which? online. Useful people the library and Which?

Hate shopping on line. Give me good old fashioned High Street palaver and physical exhaustion - please! :D Well, maybe sometimes. At least I can enjoy getting something, have some exercise at the same time and don't have to juggle cashback and the best deal and eye strain!

Moan over. Glad the wind has dropped and the temperature is up and the sun is shining today. :)

DH asked me this morning how much of my half of the food money I had left - answer, almost nothing. Alarm - neither had he. It was going to be a freezer-diving day, then later on I did the maths:
Miggy got out full amount of money on Monday and forgot to tell DH.
DH got out a tenner in case Miggy had the money out but he needed some.
It was decided to carry the balance over to next week rather than put it back in the bank.
Miggy then gave DH the balance of what he was owed, decided that instead of taking more out to cover the piano lesson (£10), she would use some of the cash in her purse instead of carrying it forward to next week.
Moving swiftly forward to Thursday, Miggy realises she only has £25 left of next week's allowance therefore has spent up to the hilt and can't afford to top up her phone yet.
    Hence conversation this morning.
It took me till this afternoon to realise there might be a mistake somewhere, and a conflab with DH to be sure we were actually £25 in credit!
Meanwhile this has been my second day stuck indoors so I threw my coat on and went out to buy dinner for those kids who don't eat tuna pasta. Sharp cold but so nice after being stuck in not-quite-warm enough all day (and I-shouldn't-be-this-cold-indoors yesterday).
We went out for a walk this evening - mad I know but not too long a walk and it was clear and frosty. Came back via supermarket and once again hit the mark-downs! Here we go:
    cauliflower was 97p now 10p
posh mushrooms were £1.25, now 10p
    pineapple was £1 now 10p
    flat-leaved parsley was 80p now 10p
half dozen apples were £1.80 now 10p

Original cost (for anyone still ill-advised enough to trust my Maths) = £5.82.
    Paid 50p.
    Saving of £5.32.

    Woop woop!
There is of course the old dilemma of whether I would have bought those things if not discounted (which I wouldn't) so can it count as a saving? However, there has to be an element of saving there, as that 50p's worth of food will feed us, thus saving another shop later.

Cauliflower cheese for tea tomorrow and mushroom soup for lunch. :)

I ought to add that I got two bags of dates for £3 to encourage DD's sticky toffee pudding addiction, and that dates vary a lot in price. Be warned.

Other MS stuff - cut DH's hair, saving £7, and coloured mine, saving goodness-knows what. Wish I could afford a hairdresser! :D

Dilemma or not that amount of food for 50p is a RESULT! I don't know anything you can buy these days for 50p!

My supermarket never has mark downs like that - I'm jealous. I get the impression your a dab hand in the kitchen Miggy! Is this mushroom soup recipe on your diary? Don't think i've ever tried mushroom soup!

Have just found your diary via LG...(cos I clicked on your profile :A)...

Did you see my post..got my bag (has enough compartments - pray it's big enough - think it's 10" width which should be big enough for a bible and a book and a few other things :)) but really should have bid on the 28cm one on Monday night  though that doesn't look like it has so many compartments...

Why is half of ebay sellers think if it has a popular brand and it's sold out everywhere bar ebay everyone knows the measurements

Still had good reviews on Marie Claire and like should be okay...Just double checked the Sabbath one and it was a measly 7" wide or something.. NOT big enough for one my books (bare in mind I read the puritans LOL. You see hardcore me :D. Though admittedly half my puritans are now on my phone :) patiently awaiting the android tablet :). Figure an android tablet is better value than either the apple version (no kindle app) or the kindle :).

So yeah - tis me......Will keep the phone even with the android tablet and maybe put the android tablet elsewhere....don't think it will fit in this thing....But that's a long way off (phone is under contract as is)

Will read the entire (or most of it) diary another day miggy

    Hugs

It's been ages since our nearest supermarket had such good mark downs. Perhaps it's a new policy or different staff or maybe they're just overbuying in the hopes we'll all go mad over Christmas...

We have a new A$da near us and I LOVE their discounts! There are always some brilliant 'whoopsies' and I end up buying lots of unlikely stuff.

The mushroom soup is really straightforward. I always used to make it by chopping up mushrooms, frying them in butter, stirring in a bit of flour then adding milk and maybe a bit of nutmeg. My friend taught me this way:

Chop up and fry a small onion. Add chopped mushrooms... er... about a small punnet for one to two people but I guess the quantities because I make a big batch. If you make too much it will freeze. Stir in hot vegetable stock, chopped fresh parsley (a bunch - be generous! - a handful!) and the juice of a lemon. Cook it for a bit, probably at least ten minutes but could go longer. Then blend it and serve with nice bread. :)
I have to add I can't take responsibility for this recipe - seeing as it's late at night and there's always the possibility I might forget something! :rotfl:It's yummy though, and mushrooms often seem to be on end-of-day sales. :)

I'd love to be a dab hand in the kitchen but I have to admit I do best when just making it up as I go along and if we have guests I never ever shine! All I'm good at then is distracting them from overdone/underdone/odd food! :D I think I lose my creative judgement when faced with visitors.

Woop woop! Erme has her bag! And the Ebay one wasn't big enough? Ah well, Someone had something better in mind for you. :)

I like bags with compartments too. ;) I still have an ancient one that had about 14 separate places to put things! I don't run to designer ones but that means all the more for other people.

I really ought to be getting up to bed now, so I'll catch up tomorrow properly. Hope you have happy dreams of that bag!

P.S. Don't feel you've got to read it all, Erme! I've just realised it's nearly 50 pages! :D

    Och I will...I will :D

I'm way back in August 2010 right now (about page 6) LOL.....

I don't know if it's big enough...I mean I did an online calc and it's just over 10 inches wide...

and it only has about 2 dividers (I prefer about 3 min) but still...also on the ASOS site the bag doesn't look that wide :(

But you never know. I just felt 'right' about it and having returned 101 bags on ebay lately I'm not returning this one. (even a morrocan hide leather one which would have been the best if it had dividers. My worst return was a morrocan hide one with dividers about £55 a few year back. Not seen them since :( )

Anyhow best get tights on - get a vape and get organized for church :)
