I am the same, it was always my dream to be a nurse dealing with children...until I had my children and realised that I would just get too attached and upset at seeing children ill and in pain, let alone if they died.
I worked on a paediatric ward for 3 months and knew it wasn't for me. Could be and often was absolutely hearbreaking.0 -

You're so right, I am incredibly glad to be alive. The fact I cannot see and can barely walk, or the daily terrifying hallucinations I suffer are far far better than the alternative. I should just shake myself out of depression and get on with life, what have I got to be depressed about when I could be dead under a bus? This morning I couldn't wipe my own !!!! and had to call for help, but at least I'm not dead eh?Only 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0 -

Do you know, TheBottomLine, at least you aren't dead.
I know what many of us live with isn't the greatest of lives - especially when our quality of life is affected, but there are still things out there to be enjoyed.
Your post made me feel sad for you, because I totally understand where you are coming from and hope that you are able to enjoy more of your life and can start to feel happy to be alive at some stage. It's not easy, though. I know
