Autism doesn't go away despite people thinking it's nothing it can be very debilatating even though it isn't physical as your mind & how you percieve yourself can be a powerful thing.

There was somene on hre who said it goes away - or something equally ridiculous! Yet, the only people in real life I know with autism / aspergers, are adults.

  • I think that the misunderstanding arose because you linked the fact of your diagnosis with your GP's toatally irresponsible and inappropriate comments.

I don't know what you're reading that makes you think that people are "ganging up" on you as there have been no comments here that could be described in that way.

I must of been imagining it then.

There you go having asperger's makes me imagine people are out to get me just because they make nasty, snide comments constantly.

    Surely that is the minority.

It doesn't mean that all of us are lying.

I had a medical when I first went onto IB which I passed hence ive been on it since & haven't had to have another medical.

Autism doesn't go away despite people thinking it's nothing it can be very debilatating even though it isn't physical as your mind & how you percieve yourself can be a powerful thing.

I've never accused you of lying.

I haven't read any posts that state you are lying about breast cancer.

I agree that it will be a minority of people who fraudulently claim but your comment made it sound as though no one would claim disability benefits if there was nothing wrong with them, and that's not the case.

I don't appreciated being linked into some perceived ganging up on you, nor have I seen any ganging up on you in this thread, and feel that it is more an issue to do with you, so I will be bowing out of any further discussions with you at the moment, because I do not want to unintentionally cause furthe rissues.

Seriously, what "nasty snide comments" have been posted here?

I think it's easier for the people that are diagnosed during childhood like my eldest son as he has gone to a special school that helps with all the social stuff.

He has only been there 3 years & he is like a different child, he has so much more confidence & belief in himself and makes me so proud.

He only has 1 year left then he will be going to collage/university as he is so bright & I truely believe that the future really holds good things for him.

On the otherhand if you are diagnosed as an adult there is no support & as they say you can't teach an old dog new tricks so it's harder for you to adapt.

And it all begins again ...

BCS, put all this 'people are out to get me' stuff behind you. The only person it is upsetting is you. It is not worth it!

I agree. I remember someone telling me they have Irlens (I do too - it's to do with not being able to read anything on white paper, plus other stuff) and therefore, understand what I'm going through! They don't! I have irlens too; but knew he was referring to my Nystagmus.

I've also had someone with spinal injuries tell me the same and tell me his problems are worse than mine. Last time I checked, visual problems (he doesn't know about my neck muscle problems) are completely different to spinal injuries.

I don't know, sh. Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but in the two examples you've given, it seems that you are saying your problems are worse than both of theirs.

Perhaps you could clarify as it appears that way, to me.

Where have I said that? I said they're completely different and therefore, don't understand what I'm going through.

I have Irlens too and hve to say it's the least of my worries.

When it was initially suggested to me I had the light bulb moment.

Now, because of reality & how having asperger's makes people view/ judge you I wish I didn't have it.

All these narrow minded people on here think it's nothing, just mild.

In reality it changes everything, I struggle to do the most simplist of things.

It has put my depression/anxiety into a different context, now I know that anti depressants won't cure me.

They might take the edge of but because I have asperger's i'm more disposed to depression/anxiety/frustration at being unable to communicate with people effectively.

Well, I'm rapid-cycling bipolar into the deal, so that may make me view things a little differently. I know even if I weren't Aspie that my mental illness wouldn't be curable. It's barely treatable.

I had been being judged as socially inept and a troublemaker for years. Now that I know why I struggle with cognitive empathy and body language, it's easier to learn to imitate because I know I need to, though chronic fatigue doesn't help with that as I get very easily worn down when interacting with people who don't know me very well.

    .

Surely you must hope and expect medical developments which will help you? You're only a young person and enormous advances will be made in your lifetime.
