Surely you must hope and expect medical developments which will help you? You're only a young person and enormous advances will be made in your lifetime.

Oh, I'm sure, but we're nowhere near that any time soon given the current situation of research into rapid-cycling bipolar or either of my other primary conditions, so there's not much point in thinking about it. I just try to get on with things as best I can from day to day. It's likely I'd be waiting half my life otherwise; there is not a whole lot of research going on in that sphere.

There's a difference between waiting and hoping. My husband is nearly 70 and he hasn't given up hoping for new treatments for his condition.

My husband is about to start a new treatment for his most disabling condition. One that certainly wasn't available a few years ago.

There have been various drug trials going on for the past few years for one of my conditions. Unfortunately, it's not just a case of taking drugs for the rest of my life - there will be an awful lot of adapting to do.

It's easier for me not to think about it, because if I don't hope I won't be disappointed with every year that goes by without anything. Which I would have been up to this point, if I had. I know my own mind pretty well by now!

You know guys, i've been following this thread for a while now.

Today I decided to go fishing, 1st time for 5 weeks after breaking a rib. Super painfull due to my issues.

Just short of the main Derby roundabout on the A38 a motor cyclist was killed. 200 yrds and 10 seconds in front of us.

All traffic shut down for 2 hrs min and the road has not been reopened yet.

NO one !!!!!ed, folks on the opposite side of the road stopped and handed out drinks to all the folks with kids.

Maybe some of you guys should just take a step back and thinkof what is important. I did today ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

What did no one do? Should children not have been given drinks?

Sometimes, things happen that makes you think about the important things in life.

You experienced that today and yet you still came on here to make your comments.

Perhaps you should follow your own advice???

It is sad when someone dies and it does make you think that the discussions on here aren't so important in life, but they are a part of our lives and so, to suggest we step back from it isn't really your decision to make, imo.

Hope you enjoyed your fishing though :)

I think that's true. This kind of remark comes into the same category as 'there's always someone worse off than you'. I find this very difficult - I've been told this by consultants on three occasions recently - there may well be many millions worse off than me, but that doesn't mean that the condition I have has any less impact on my life in my own place and situation.
