BT for me, sick of the multi options on phone menus, they still ow me money for messing up our moving number as I had to use mobile to ring them up and cost me £7 in charges just to get someone round to fix the problem they claimed didnt exist, but you guessed it it was there fault.

I also refuse to speak to Onetel either as I just have trouble understanding there call centres.

In terms of my experiences with them for service, from the list I would suggest Powergen, not on the list would be Arriva Trains Wales.

I can't believe Primark came so low down on this list. I think this must be due to peoples' naivety over the fashion industry.

Not only are companies like Primark exploiting unethical production, they are damaging the UK fashion industry as a whole by undercutting ethical competitors out of the market with their cheap imports. People do not realise what a significant contribution fashion and design make to the UK economy and it should be supported and safeguarded.

Poll Title: Poll Started 5 September. Britain’s Worst Company? Following last week's 'who's Britain's best company', here's a list of the same selected 50 companies. Which is worst for quality, service and price? Who's the anti-role model for corporate Britain?

    "Discuss" Ok!

Easyjet! Profits, profits, profits! Can someone explain global warming again please?!

British Gas, would be high up there too for worst companies. They are incompetant tw*ts. In the last few months, they've sent me huge bills, for amounts that I dont owe, then when Ive rang & asked them to explain CS staff, cannot/willnot offer any explanation "computer says no!!" lol! CS(INDIA, no doubt!!): Oh just ignore those bills, you dont owe anything!! Me: so why you sending me huge bills?!

Next up O2,CS: "computer says no!!!" "sorry, your in an 18 month contract, we are unwilling to help you until your contract is due to expire! Until then, dont expect any coutesy!"(one of my best friends, was pretty high up in O2 until a couple of months ago & even using his name, I couldnt get good service!!!) Needless to say, I WILL NOT be signing another contract with them!!!

Powergen - apparently, theyve brought there call centres back from India now! Not before time, nuff said!

Lidl! Because they sell things cheap, they seem to think they have a monopoly! I dont think so! Never had a pleasant trip!

    TK Maxx - Simply junk!

Tesco! Never had too much of a problem in a Tesco "store" (expect, my old local store, all the lights used to flicker & by the time, you left you felt sick/dizzy! Im sure this wouldnt have been good for epilepsy suffers! ) however, Tesco Insurance (think lots of there call centres are in India, again!) are sh*t. Again, "youve signed a piece of paper now, so we got you where we want you!" - needless to say, that this year, Im insured with them at all, nor will I be in the future!!

Oh & BT too! You guessed it, Im through to India, after a 30 minute wait on hold! And they cant even prenounce my name properly! I spend the least amount possible with them (line rental only), no Im not putting any more money than neccessary into India's economy!

Other than that, never had any problems with any others. Im very pro Body shop (fair trade!) & virgin, good philosophy I think! Ive always liked woolworths too, & sainsburys not bad (although not a "cheap" supermarket - good for quality!)!

does this have to be your experience as a customer or can you mention companies you've worked for?

argos: had home delivery of several items for dd1 birthday, several small but valuable items missing. obviously i signed the receipt (well you do dont you, the delivery man never has time to wait for you to check everything first........) contacted them later, no response, didnt give a s%i@ basically.
machine mart: not on the list but hey.........

a long time ago, worked in a machine mart office.

    treatment of staff included:

    1. only senior management could have a window in the office where they spend 40 hrs a week. the building was not air-conditioned by the way , so there was no air and no natural daylight.

    2. all workers kept on temp contracts forever.

    3. communal kettle was boiled once at 8am, anyone who started at 9am had to lump it basically: you were not allowed to re-boil until the afternoon:D

    4. chat/banter while working was discouraged, even though the work was simple enough that you could easily do both.

once, a memo was sent round (one copy for the entire office:D ) which stated that, while they could not by law forbid laughter during working hours, anyone whose laughter was audible above the general decibel level of the office would be disciplined:rotfl:

oh i could go on, in fact i am thinking of writing a book about it, except that no-one would believe i hadn't stolen some of the ideas from ricky gervais!
  • Brantano Footwear for me.
Customer service is appalling from my experience.
For kids shoes, stick to Clarkes!
  • NTL now Virgin Media, still crappy
  • In terms of customer service, BSkyB have to be the worst. I ordered Sky+ a couple of years ago but when the engineer came out his ladder wasn`t long enough.

I then got a call from someone at BSkyB who informed me that they couldn`t find an engineer with a ladder long enough to put my dish up (I`m only 3 storeys up BTW). They then had the cheek to suggest that I find an independant firm to put the dish up - so not only was I to pay the £80 sky had charged me, I had to go through the hassle of finding someone else to do the job! Needless to say I just cancelled and got a refund.

The worst company in terms of working conditions I would say is Lidl. The cheap prices the consumer gets is paid for the complete mistreatment of their staff. When I worked there we only got 1 (yes, 1!) half hour break for shifts that were up to 12 hours long. You weren`t allowed a till shortage of more than £1 either - which is fine if you are only on the till for a few hours but how can that be expected from anyone who works long hours without a proper break? Then if the work wasn`t done for the shop closing at 8 you had to stay on and work - without getting paid of course.
