  • Yes another disappointed person that N Power was not there.
I am still having problems with them about an account switch and a failure to change a meter when requested.
The attitude at the moment is "what are you going to do about it ?"
Simple answer (once I have got my money back) !
I voted for Lidl but that might be down to the Bedford branch which is dire but there again can you rate any company that uses an 08700 number for customer enquiries.
ps for oddjobkia Woolies is British owned and has been for 20 odd years and just because the Co-op is supposedly owned and "run" by its members does not mean to say it shouldn't be in the list.
  • BSkyB should win this award hands down. I've had worse service from them than from the other 50 put together!
  • Tesco currently number 4 ?? I suspect the suggested criteria of Price, Quality and Customer Service has been ignored by some people, in favour of the irrational-dislike-of-any-large-profitable-company criteria...

The Tesco Asda price war of recent years, forcing Sainsburys to cut there prices by 5-10%, must be a major contributor to the sustained low inflation this country has enjoyed these past few years - and a much more effective redistributor of wealth to the less well off in society than any psuedo govt tax breaks

I'm glad Royal Mail are in - yet another two on going disputes with them stemming from the fact they dont actually read the body of the single page of information sent to them before deciding which form-factor reply to issue.

If only the DWP(!) counted as a legitimate company they'd have my vote, hands down, feet down, face down.. and anything else I can think of. They're by afar the worst institution I've ever had the misfortune to deal with, at least with the companies you have a choice to deal with them or not, but the DWP are just forced-upon appalling.

Definately agree with that - when there was big problems with the Sky+ boxes towards the last year because of a software problem they were terrible is sorting it out.

From within the list, I'd say Zara is the worst. In my experience, the quality of their products is pitiful and the service is worse.
By the way, Zara is not British.

Include me as someone who would have voted for BSkyB. (Or Virgin Trains had they be separated from the rest of the Virgin group.)

There seems to be confusion about my use of the word British. This is about companies operating in Britain - not about the ownership of the company.

  • not in your list - FirstGroup: They price competitors out of the market, create virtual monopolies of regional bus services, then raise their prices to rip-off levels and cut back on 'non-profitable' routes (but at least their shareholders are happy).

My worst company isn't on this list either.

    TOUCAN

I joined them in January for phone and broadband. 2 months later still no broadband even though I gave them the MAC code twice. They said the broadband account had been frozen, in the meantime BT had cut off my broadband! I was so frustrated with the lack of customer service and no one willing to help me that I cancelled my account and went with NTL. However this didn't stop Toucan continually sending me bills saying that my account was still active.

Only last month some 7-8 months later (fingers crossed) has this finally been settled and my account finally cancelled on their system, inspite of the numerous letters sent/phonecalls made informing them that I've cancelled my account.

I also agree about Royal Mail!!!
