  • just to let you all know, after posting here yesterday we got home to find that there was a cheque waiting for us! it's a personal cheque though, and not in the name of the company - that smacks of the company being in financial difficulties.

all i can say is keep trying - my wife had literally been bombarding them with emails and threatening action with trading standards, police etc (which we would have taken).

i'll let you all know if the cheque actually clears however!!!

Yeah, my mate got his deposited in cash into his account. Very very dodgy. Glad you got your cheque though, fingers crossed it clears.
  • Just thought I would add my experience of this ridiculous company, in the hope that people don't make the same mistake of trusting them as I did.

I sent of my old phone in the first few days of Aug. Received an email confirming they had received my phone and would contact me shortly about payment.
Heard nothing for over a week, so I called them on the 16th. Guy there says money will be deposited later that day. It wasn't. Had the same phone conversation the next day. Still no money.
Emailed them on the 19th informing them I had taken legal advice (I hadn't!) and that I had been told I had a case to take to The Office of Fair Trading, and the small claims court.
Finally got a response saying that the phone was faulty and they would give me £20 for the handset, or I could have it back for £12 admin charge!

I replied informing them that I had had it tested before sending it off and that it was working perfectly, therefore demanded they pay in full or return the phone FOC, or further legal action would be taken. They emailed back immediately agreeing, the full amount of money was in my account a few hours later.

    SUMMARY:
If you are unfortunate enough to have to deal with these scam artists, threaten them with legal action and DON'T back down.

finally, the chq cleared so we got our money. however it took so many emails, phone calls (not getting through) etc - my advice, DO NOT USE SKYPHONES - they are well dodgy and you may not get your money!! i was just lucky! from now on whenever i trade a phone in i'll use my service provider's recycle programme or one of the trusted sites like mazuma etc.

good luck all - keep hassling to get your money!

  • Oh how i wish i had checked this site out before using them. Sent 2 brand new Nokia 5230's, both never out of the box and have been quite fantasticly ignored by them ever since, other than email to say they have passed processing and testing and i will recieve payment soon. How Soon? I wish my lunch hour was timed to the clock these guys use! I have followed the advise of some of the other comments and hopefully will receive an amicable resolution from them and will let you know how I get on. I work in the mobile industry and I will be making sure that everybody i come in to contact with across the UK know how appalling these guys are and hopefully a lot less people will be conned by them!
  • We sent off a Sony Ericsson W995 abit back. There was no replies about the phone, no calls no emails or nothing. So my boyfriend rang and rang, eventually someone answered and said they hadnt recieved the phone. They should definately have recieved it, was posted about 6-7 days before. My boyfriend rang back up cos he thought it was dodgy, he threatened them with the police, then all of a sudden they had recieved the phone. We asked for the phone back, they said they wanted £12 for them to send it back. He threatened to go to where they are based and he said he would send it back free of charge...2-3 days later we recieved the phone.

Also my friend sent off an iPhone he basically conned him just like they did with us. My mate set of at 5am, 200 miles to travel. He got there and it was a house...they wouldnt answer the door, he tried the door and it was open. A guy came downstairs, he said he was a scammer and he backed off. My mate rang the police and they came and arrested him, the police said hes been in and out of prison more than enough times for scamming people. Hes now back in prison, my mate got his phone back and even got money for petrol.

If you google earth the address you will see there is no shop, just some solicitors and a couple of other shops and then a row of houses.
Dont use skyphones they are just scammers!!
  • I have just received my money from Skyphones.org after waiting 3 weeks for it. I had sent emails and had tried ringing with no sucess until today! I let the phone ring and ring till after about 2 hours someone picked up! He took my order number and said my payment was ready and would be sent this week! I said that I would be issuing a claim against the company using moneyclaim if the payment wasn't in my paypal account by the end of the day and suprise suprise within an hour it was in my account! The direct email that came through was tom at skypones dot org so maybe try and get a response from that. Good Luck everyone!

Id pay the £12 just to get the phone back, as its worth more than £12..
  • My issue has been resolved, but thanks anyway.
  • New to the site, so hopefully this will post in the right place.....
I to sent off my phone to skyphones a few weeks ago and received the email saying that there were scratches on it and that they were dropping the price, but decided to go ahead with the payment anyway. I haven't heard a thing and despite getting through on the phone to someone called Michael, I have still not received any money.
My concern is less about receiving the cash, but more about the fact that I have given all my bank details to someone who clearly isn't running a legitimate business. Any suggestions about how to protect myself from someone now using this info? Or am I stuck waiting to see how they'll scam me next?
Wish I had read the thread before sending the phone!
    Cheers
