Skyphones.org - charging an administration fee to return phone

  • There's nothing on their site about cancellation charges, and it's a nightmare trying to search for them because all you get is stuff about Skype phones and Sky's phone packages :(
  • One last bump... anyone?

I've e-mailed them asking what their policy is and asking why it isn't on their website, but I don't really expect them to reply...
  • I also sent a phone in to Skyphones.org and was told that it had a crack in part of the casing this dropped the value from £52 to £47. I agreed to this price of £47 on the 15th of this month. Since then I have received no BACs payment, no response from emails, I have phoned and text the telephone number on the website and apart from once It has either rung out or has been busy. The one time I did speak to someone was last week who said there was computer problems so they could not process payments and action emails. I would receive the BACS payment (top of the list) Friday or yesterday... I am still waiting. Still no response on the phone or emails. Is this a scam? is there an alternative number we can call to talk to someone and get my money or the phone back?

i sent my phone to them 2&half weeks ago and had nothing from them to say they had received phone or anything until i had an automated email sent at 4.05am 17th july (random time!) to say my phone had passed testing stage and payment is on the way.
    still waiting 11days later!
i also tried calling but either get engaged tone or nobody picks up. sounds like its in a back office somewhere with one phone line!
cant seem to find any other bad reviews for them tho
should have guessed something like this wud happen when they were offering me a tenner more than all the other companies!
  • Forgot to update here, sorry!

My mate sent them a few more e-mails and mentioned some advice he'd gotten from the OFT - that seemed to scare them a bit so tehy phoned him to apologise, said they'd give him the original amount they'd agreed and deposited it in cash within the hour.

Dodgy, dodgy company. Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
  • My son was advised his phone had been tested, approved and an amount agreed for £143 for which he duly received a cheque at the start of June. The cheque was dishonoured because they closed the account. Susbsequently he has received an email stating the phone has a fault and that they are offering a reduced sum of ..... but then there is a gap in the email with no more information.

He has tried on numerous occasions to contact Skyphones by phone and email but to date he has not received a reply and has now been advised to issue a County Court summons to recover the amount of the dishonoured cheque.

What a shambles! I shall suggest he also considers reporting to the OFT as per earlier posting. Thanks for the tip.

Hope this helps and good luck.:)

Prehaps you should take more care, just posting up emails of all and sundry.

You seem to do this quite a few times without even giving any thought about original posters issues.

Great point, this guy is fast and loose with his posts, you'd only get a dismissive response if you are lucky to get one at all!
