Drunk driving in a Motability car.

I'm surprised she's getting a new car but if that's the way Motability do things who are we to complain?Only 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0

So, if the mobility payment is till paying off the last car, that was crashed, how can it be paying for the new one?0

I think the speculation is that the insurance has paid for the old car.Only 3% of those registered blind in the UK have zero vision.0

Because the payments are funded by DLA which is funded by our taxes - why should we be paying for irresponsible drunk drivers to have a car? (plus more insurance payouts means the cost of insurance goes up for others)TheBottomLine wrote: »I'm surprised she's getting a new car but if that's the way Motability do things who are we to complain?0 -
This is incredibly upsetting-like another poster said-must have had a very good day that day.
I receive HRM because of cerebral palsy-on a good day I appear to be able bodied-and endure many a comment if it does come up. Because I am left hemiplegic I could potentially cope with "just an automatic". But Im too scared to drive because of the unpredictability of my symptoms-so I stuck with a freedom pass and taxi card. At the moment Ive not had a good day in a while and have thus stayed indoors for the last 7 days to ensure I dont get into any trouble.
Stories like this are the ones that give DLA claimants in general a bad rapp.0 -

It's not that she has to prove she lost control due to something else; it's that they have to prove she lost control due to the drink.
This is not true.... the insurance T&C's will say something along the lines of:
"What is not covered
> Anyone who is convicted for driving
while under the influence of drink or
drugs at the time of the accident."
The OP indicates that this person has now been convicted so its cut and dry, short of a complaint to the regulator and / or a legal battle which she would likely lose....0 -

We are NOT paying for irresponsible drunk drivers to have a car.
The DLA is awarded because that person has mobility difficulties. It would continue to be paid to her whether she signed up for a Motability car or not.
If Motability chose to allow her to take on another vehicle, that is their commercial decision.
It may be that she has arrangements to pay off the balance of the write-off from other means ....I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say.

Hi all,
I am 100% sure she doesn't have any money to pay anything back for the cost of the written off car.
I have also been told that the new car she has on order has been delayed till sometime in September, something to do with a backlog of orders for her model of car, but I have a feeling that perhaps Motability has put a spanner in the works (my opinion only).

"perhaps Motability has put a spanner in the works". oh No now she may have another reason to crash a car.
