    Hi all,
Thanks for all your opinions but I have been told today that she or should I say another designated driver on her behalf is scheduled to pick up her new car 2 weeks today (7th August).
(HER PREVIOUS CAR WAS WRITTEN OFF DUE TO HER DRINK DRIVING)
I am not a bitter person and I firmly believe in live and let live but there is something wrong in a system where you can wreck a Motability car through drink driving be convicted of it then 6-7 weeks later get the keys to another brand new car.(although she technically can't drive it)
I always was led to believe that any insurance company would refuse to pay out except to a third party if you were caught drink driving as the accident was due to your negligence.(so the drink driver is left owing the cost of the written off car to Motability)
I guess that Motabilitys insurer Royal Sun Alliance must have a special arrangement with Motability where they pay out in every circumstance.

Considering she is on HRM - she did very well to get bladdered, storm out the house in a paddy, get into the car and drive it ....err crash it ....quite mobile that day then ??

In my opinion she was lucky she only smashed up the car - it could have been a person - how selfish .

Mind you i suppose she does fit the criteria for DLA - she is def a danger to other people !!!

I tell you why I think this unbelievable. I am due to have a new motability car (on order at the mo) and because I've 4 claims in the past 5 years RSA are unwilling to insure me to drive the car, however, my husband will be insured. Now, before you all say 'well you've had 4 claims, what do you expect?' claim 1 - I was hit by an uninsured driver, claim 2 - A log fell off a lorry and onto the road, and I couldn't avoid it, it ripped my oil sump off, claim 3 - driver hit me in supermarket carpark and left no details and claim 4 - was my fault. My oldest claim is 5 years old this month, so hoping RSA will relent when the car arrives.

  • Lyniced,
Good luck with RSA as I think you are a victim of a very bad set up with RSA where you are the innocent party penalized for other peoples mistakes.
In my thread RSA are giving this Drunk driver a reward of a new car.

Was thinking about this thread today.

Got my lifestyle mobability magazine through the post.

A little article on page 16 at the bottom.

Driving convictions (ok your makes gf needs to be convicted)

As part of your contract hire agreement with motability, you must inform your insurer, RSA of any motoring convictions such as speeding tickets that you or any of your drivers have incurred in the last five years and during your lease period.

If you don't they can reject any future claims you need to make and will look to recover any costs incurred.

I am sure drink driving is (if she is convicted) part of this.
