    Hi lyniced,
Just to update you that in a previous answer I found that her new car was supposed to be delayed till September due to a backlog at the manufacturers.
    Supposed to be anyway.

    Kiansdad,

Did you try for a new car but tell them you would appoint another driver to drive it?
I believe that this is allowed by Motability even though they wouldn't insure you for 5 years

    Hi arigold,

Just one more thing, I was wondering why she still has a hired car?
If RSA has payed out for the wrecked vehicle so promptly surely RSA's obligation in this matter is finished.
I must stress that she isn't driving the hired car as she is under ban and must be using a designated driver.
Do RSA still pay for a hired car till she (or her designated driver) picks up her new Motability car which by all accounts could still be a good month or so?
That would mean that she would have had the hired car for approx 3 months which on top of the cost of the wrecked vehicle must be a fair amount of money.
I never thought to mention this about the hired car before.
who pays for the hired car?
Could you give me one of your lovely clear answers to this point please?

    W.W.
    Hi, Weekend Warrior.
I find the fact that she still has a hired car as odd.
My Father had his Motability car stolen whilst on holiday and he was initially given the use of a hired car, his car was found approx 10 days later wrecked and beyond economical repair and written off.
My Father was then told to order another car through the scheme but his hired car was taken off him while he was waiting for the new car being delivered which took 8 weeks.
When he inquired about this he was told that as RSA had paid Motability Operations for the wrecked car their obligations were fulfilled and the contract with them was now satisfied and at an end.
Hence they wouldn't continue paying for a hired car.
This happened about 4 years ago.
So I don't understand how she is still getting a hired car paid for if RSA has paid out.
I wonder who is paying for the hired car now?
Hope this is of some help.

  • Hi all,
Just to inform all you helpful people who contributed to this thread that the Lady I was refering to in this thread picked up her new Motability car on Saturday 4th September.
She had a designated driver with her to pick the car up and I have been told by my friend who is her now ex boyfriend that he saw her driving the car on Saturday night!
I am so shocked and disgusted that a person can write a Motability car off whilst drunk and be rewarded a couple of months later with a brand new car and in the in between weeks she had a hired car provided till her new car was ready.
    UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!!

I think a little note to police re driving whilst disqualified may be in order.

would be handy if you know when she uses the car regularly, like going to work etc.
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D
