Some people need to stop attacking the lad, it's not like he's sat down and decided to spawn 10 kids and live off the state, he has plans and ambition, he's looking for advice on the short term not crucifiction, some are making it sound like this individual's situation means your personally going to the shops and buy nappies for him every week, be serious and offer him something useful and save the judgement for kids who plan careers in procreation. Not everyone who has kids in this situation he's found himself are the dregs of society, thought the fact he's stated he wants to finish college, work, and build a self sufficient life would have given that away...

OP can't your gf look at care work? when my sister had her oldest she was 18 and worked the max she could so as to not impact on her benefits (increasing hours as time goes on). Care homes/agencies can be flexible and you get qualifications out of it. My sister did her NVQs and went onto do a Nursing degree. Ok so your gf doesn't have to go into Nursing but if she ever wanted to go to uni this would help plus for future jobs. Oh and the child father wasn't in the kids live after a couple of years.

Bear in mind that from I think next summer you have to have NVQ level 2 before you can work in care.

ah health & social care not health & beauty as previously stated. Think she may still have to complete the NVQ level 2 or could start right on level 3. I'm actually finishing level 2 at the moment.

I would have thought the nation would have been much better looking by now with all these qualified beauticians. I'm not sure about you, but it hasn't made me any prettier! :rotfl:

At the college where I used to be based virtually nobody actually got a job after doing the beauty therapy course. There were no vacancies so they tried to set themselves up as "mobile" therapists and gave it up a year or so later. What a waste!

It could well be that she's done both. Many young people waste years chopping and changing on low level courses without making any progress towards starting a proper career. Some of them even get pregnant.

Actually, Oldernotwiser, She did her level 2 diploma in health and beauty at school in year 11, and studied health and social care at college, so the judgement you just made about my girlfriend is wrong i really dont know what your problem is but you need to resolve it somewhere else, your pointless opinions arnt needed or wanted here
